Babies coming soon đ

Well today I found what Iâve summed up to be a banded water snake đ that wanted to look like a venomous snake coiled RIGHT under a nesting box full of babiesâŠneedless to say that problem has been resolved! I am OVER snakes man. đ I refuseeee to possibly lose babies to them. We donât even have water nearby!? Make it make sensssse. đ”âđ« l had absolutely no reasoning as to why I went outside when I did today lol I was kind of confused about it. Like when you walk into a room then completely forget what you were doing but what you were doing wasnât even in the room you wound up in. Needless to say God knew even if I had no clue what was about to go down.
Iâve learned everything is not as it seems. Yesterday was absolutely a terrifying whirlwind here at the Rabbitry. Bithian, my best mother bun surprised me with a single baby born on the wire. She was due last week but never kindled so I took it as she just didnât take when bred. She was immediately given back her nesting box and I took any fur she pulled and placed the HUGE baby gently in. Baby is ok and thriving now! Surprise surprise!! Then I walk over to Dahlia. Dahlia had 3 really plump babies just under a week ago. Sheâs been a very protective mom and Iâd seen the babies be good and wriggly this entire time popcorning all the whileâŠI stopped checking on them after 2 night so mom wouldnât be so stressed with me poking around her very well built nest. Well I put her aside and checked on them yesterday because I had noticed they werenât as bouncy as usual. They were wrinkly with skinny bellies and had been urinated on. Dahlia has been in the box often but I am guessing her milk must not have come in.
If Bithian wouldnât have had her baby when she did then these poor babies wouldâve likely not made it. It is also a blessing that the singular baby was huge as he is nearly the size of its new fostered siblings. Theyâve been with Bithian for an entire day now and they are no longer wrinkly or stinky! She will be fostering them until they hop to new homes. These poor babies have been put through the wringer but theyâve ALL persevered! God always has a plan. đđ I am always hesitant to share these experiences however this is the raw reality of what one accepts and witnesses when choosing to be a breeder. It is ugly at times but getting to see new life and watch these babies grow make it all worth it. I have learned from this my own self to say the least!
This is something I havenât posted yet. For anyone wanting to reserve a baby I always wait a minimum of 4 weeks to make sure theyâll make it. The first month things can happen to little ones as it does with all nature. So in the future if you are looking into getting a baby from me know I wait until they are 4 weeks old to reserve even if Iâm posting photos of them younger than that. I will be writing up a policy soon for potential adopters to read.
