🏒 Decatur Youth Hockey Elections – This Tuesday 🏒

DYHA Board Elections will take place Tuesday at 5:30 PM during the Annual Meeting at the Decatur Civic Center.

🗳 Who can vote?

Only parents or legal guardians of 2025–26 registered DYHA members are eligible to vote.

👥 Board Positions Open:

3 three-year terms
1 one-year term

🎤 Each candidate will have 3 minutes to introduce themselves, followed by a paper ballot vote. The top four vote-getters will be elected to the board.

Annual Meeting and elections for the DYHA Board of Directors will be held on April 14th, 2026 at the Decatur Civic Center at 5:30 pm.

Board members are elected to serve a 3-year term.
Membership must be present and in good standing in order to vote, and we hope everyone takes the opportunity to come out and vote!

If you are interested in being on the Board Member Ballot, please return the DYHA Board Application to the DYHA Board President, Ross Bareksten ([email protected]) by April 3rd, at 11:59 pm Central Time.

Zac Pearson and the Decatur Blaze will be hosting their 2nd Annual Summer Hockey Camp August 3rd through 7th!

🔥Last year's camp was a huge success, and this year's looks to be even better!

🔥This camp is a high-energy, skill-boosting week of on and off the ice! It's designed to elevate every part of your game and help you become a smarter, faster, and stronger hockey player.

We had a FANTASTIC turnout today for the St. Patrick's Day Parade!

Lot of smiles, lots of fun, and lots of candy!!! The kids represented DYHA very well today!

You're looking for this Black Chevy Blazer as our staging area this morning and I'm parked right in front of the Ameren entrance.

Please arrive no later than 10:30 as the parade starts at 11:00 and we want pictures before!

St. Patrick's Day Parade Details:

🍀 We will begin lining up at 9:30 AM in the Ameren Parking lot (on the corner of Main and Macon). The parade starts at 11:00 AM sharp, but we do group pictures, distribute candy to be thrown, and give out general guidelines before. It's better to come closer to 9:30 than 11:00.

🍀 Weather looks to be in the low 50's, so a tad colder than years past. No rain in the forecast, but please plan for the temperature accordingly.

🍀 You CANNOT park in the Ameren parking lot. Park on a side street and walk over. They're more heavily enforcing this now.

🍀 PLAYERS, please wear your BLUE jerseys (unless you have a green St. Patricks Day themed one). Parents and siblings, please either wear a DYHA jersey, or BLUE or RED. We want our DYHA colors to stand out in the sea of green so we're noticeable to everyone!

🍀 Please bring any DYHA flag or banner you may have! We want to stand out!!

🍀 There is no float, so if you're participating, be prepared to walk or rollerblade the entire way. Strollers and wagons are permitted, just know there is no float to ride on for our littles. If you haven't been before, most of our DYHA athletes will rollerblade.

🍀 DYHA is providing the candy, but if you'd like to donate any please reach out or bring it Saturday. I'll have plastic bags, but if you have a bucket or bag you'd like to walk with to distribute candy, please bring that as well.

🍀 We've always had a WONDERFUL turnout for this event and it's a great time. The kids love it! If you haven't signed up, it's not too late! Please fill out the sign-up genius so I know how many to expect.

We've had some AMAZING photos from all levels on these threads in the past, so show us what you have! As we're one big hockey family that gets pulled in so many directions during the year, we want to see what everyone was up to! They can be crazy, they can be funny, they can be whatever you want, just please keep them family friendly!

🏒 What a Day for Decatur Youth Hockey! 🏒

Yesterday’s Try Hockey for Free event was our most successful in the last six years — and it showed in a big way.

✅ 28 kids signed up
✅ 28 kids showed up

That kind of turnout says a lot about our community and the excitement around hockey in Decatur.

Because of all of you, our hockey family just got a little bigger. ❤️

Seeing players from all levels of hockey step up to welcome new kids to the game is what makes this community special.

And thank you to everyone who shared the event, volunteered their time, and helped new families feel welcome. Because of you, 28 new kids got their first taste of hockey yesterday.
