The landmark Global Gateway Connector bridge in College Park, Georgia that C.W. Matthews recently completed spans two hundred feet over Camp Creek Parkway at the Georgia International Convention Center. Our scope was the rolled, perforated-aluminum screens that line either side of the ten-foot-wide pedestrian and bike path.

Because multiple sets of rail lines intersect in downtown Atlanta, the city has essentially been built as if ground level was up in the air. Centennial Olympic Park Drive, Ted Turner Drive, MLK Jr Drive, and Andrew Young International Blvd., all intersect in the air above the tracks. Also, main entrances to State Farm Arena, Mecedes Benz Stadium, CNN Center, and the Georgia World Congress Center, among others, are also well above grade. For years, amid these major destinations and thoroughfares, there has been an under-utilized hole in the cityscape. A vast pit known locally as The Gulch. But that is changing. Centennial Yards is rising from this hole. One of the first buildings completed is the aptly named Phoenix Hotel, and this is where we come in.
We installed over 11,000 square feet of digital video boards on the hotel, as well as a freestanding 30’ tall double-faced board in front of the neighboring Mitchell apartment building. Most of these boards are serviced from the back side with access from inside the building onto multi-story catwalks concealed inside the signs by our cladding.
The largest of these boards face Centennial Olympic Park Drive. Just above street level is a curved board roughly 40’ tall and 200’ long, with another curved board at the roof line roughly 17’ x 125’. On the left side of this elevation is a nearly 100’ tall board that wraps seamlessly around the corner with its two faces 15 and 17 feet wide, respectively. There are two other boards on the east elevation and another facing MLK Jr Drive.

Our crews are currently working on interior renovations at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Scattered through the over two miles of corridors we are installing MetalTech zinc cladding, 3Form lighted and unlighted accents at the escalators, and Arktura’s lighted V***r Graphic Perf panels. We were selected by the AECOM Hunt/Broadmoor joint venture to implement Nano, LLC’s brilliant interior design for these elements.

The RMR Group’s renovations to 101 West Ponce de Leon Avenue in Decatur, Georgia are complete. RMR chose Cooper Carry for their architectural vision and DPR Construction to run the project. DPR in turn chose us for the new façade and canopy work on both the office and adjacent annex buildings.
Our Scope includes the vertical wood-grain aluminum Knotwood Batten accents, ACM column and canopy cladding, and the lighted acrylic accent bands along the canopy faces and spanning the ACM headers between the columns.
