The STEM Academy at DCOC educates students through STEM based curriculum that will enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills while fostering a love of knowledge and learning. The STEM Academy at DCOC educates children three to five years of age through STEM based curriculum that will enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills while fostering a love of knowledge and learning. Exploring science and its connection to the Bible and its stories will allow students to see that God is the creator of all.

🚒 Mystery Scientist Day with the Decatur Fire Department! 🚒
Our Pre-K students had a great time learning from our local firefighters! One of our students even had a special family connection with one of the firefighters! ❤️
Thank you, Decatur Fire Department, for all you do for our community and for coming to visit us! 👩🚒❤️
Today we learned about the Israelites and how they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years!
We then learned how God provided for His people with manna. We made our own manna “biscuits” and got to try them with honey! 🍯
We also learned about heat and fire safety with a fun garden activity where we practiced “extinguishing” the plants 🔥🌱, along with some other fun activities in class! A little hint about our Mystery Scientist Friday! 🔬👨🚒👀 We can’t wait!
Huge shout out to Jaclyn Hicks White and Tyler White for providing a sonic pick me up today for all of our teachers as well! We enjoyed our drinks, thank you!!

🌱 Garden Day looked a little different today, we took it indoors! ☀️🔦
We talked about heat and light while melting crayons on canvas in the sun. We also dissected aloe vera and used flashlights to explore what was inside! 🌿✨
So much learning, exploring, and hands-on fun! 💚

🔬✨ We kicked off our very first Mystery Scientist Friday! ✨🔬
Our office staff stepped into the mystery scientist role today as we learned about the rules we follow when conducting experiments! We made hypotheses and put them to the test to see what would happen. 🧪
We also explored light, reflection, transparency, and color mixing through some fun, hands-on activities!
We can’t wait for all the exciting Mystery Scientist Fridays in store! 🔎🧠✨
