Holy Week at Holy Cross!

12/21/2025

Preparing a for our Lord doesn’t really mean paving the ground – but it’s a theme of the season of Advent: We take special interest in this season to prepare ourselves to encounter Jesus. It’s a call to both remember the first time that he came among us – as a baby in Bethlehem – and the next time, when he will arrive in great power and glory.

Almighty God,

We come before You with hearts full of concern for our beautiful island, Jamaica, and its people as Hurricane Melissa approaches.

We ask for Your divine protection to surround every home, community, and coastline.
Calm the winds and the waves, O Lord, and reduce the force and impact of this storm.

Grant the people of Jamaica strength, courage, and wisdom as they prepare and face this challenge.

Be a source of comfort and peace for all who are waiting and preparing for landfall.

Protect the brave men and women who will work to ensure safety and provide aid; give them strength and keep them safe.

May Your love and mercy prevail, and Your grace surround us all.

We thank You in advance for Your protection, and answering our prayers with compassion.

In the Name of the One who said “peace be still,” Jesus, our Lord! Amen
