A well-designed upfit does more than organize equipment. It can improve safety, reduce unnecessary movement, and help teams work more efficiently in the field.
J3 Upfitters recently completed a custom two-vehicle build for Mizuno focused on mobility, efficiency, and real-world functionality.
One of the biggest upgrades was creating a mobile solution for transporting heavy glove steamers and equipment using a ramp system paired with rolling Sortimo WorkMo setups.
No unnecessary lifting.
No wasted movement.
Just a safer, more efficient workflow built around the people using the vehicle every day.
The build also included shelving and partitions to improve organization, maximize storage, and enhance safety on the road.
Too often, companies think upfitting is simply about adding shelves or storage. In reality, the right setup can impact employee safety, daily efficiency, equipment accessibility, and even how long a team can sustainably perform the job.
Because when an upfit is designed with purpose, the impact extends far beyond the vehicle.

Not every upfit starts with shelving, partitions, or equipment.
Sometimes it starts with understanding how a business actually operates.
When Mizuno partnered with J3 Upfitters, the conversation wasn’t simply about upfitting a vehicle. It was about understanding workflow, mobility, safety, and the day-to-day demands placed on their team sports division.
From transporting glove steaming machines to supporting MLB summer training camps, their team needed a vehicle that could support the way they work in the field.
That required more than a standard installation.
It required an intentionally designed upfit built around their specific operational needs and workflow challenges.
The result was a professionally upfitted vehicle featuring customized storage solutions, improved organization, and a workflow-focused layout designed to help their team operate more efficiently, work safer, and stay prepared for every event and training opportunity.
At J3 Upfitters, every upfit begins with understanding the customer, identifying operational challenges, and designing solutions that support long-term performance in the field.
Because the best upfits aren’t just installed.
They’re intentionally designed with the customer’s success in mind.

A vehicle is only as valuable as what it allows your team to accomplish.
This custom WORLDPAC mobile showroom was designed to help their team take products, demonstrations, and solutions directly to customers in the field.
Featuring a Sortimo storage system, organized shelving, and a layout built for efficiency, this van creates a workspace that keeps tools accessible, equipment secure, and demonstrations moving smoothly.
The result?
Less time searching.
More time engaging customers.
A professional mobile environment that supports productivity wherever the road leads.
Every upfit should be designed around how the vehicle will actually be used.
What would make the biggest difference in your fleet’s day-to-day operations?

Strong fleet solutions are built through strong partnerships.
J3 Upfitters is proud to partner with TigerTough, a company known for manufacturing heavy-duty seat covers designed to protect vehicles that work hard every single day.
From fleet vehicles to commercial work trucks, durability matters. The wear and tear that comes from daily operations can quickly impact the condition, comfort, and longevity of a vehicle’s interior. That is why solutions like TigerTough make a difference.
Partnerships like this allow J3 Upfitters to continue building solutions that help fleets stay protected, organized, and ready for the demands of the job.
We enjoyed connecting with the TigerTough team at both the NAFA Expo and the NAFA Spring Luncheon and look forward to continuing the conversation around smarter fleet solutions.

Yesterday wasn’t just about showing up.
It was about being in the room.
J3 Upfitters attended the NAFA Spring Luncheon alongside fleet professionals, manufacturers, and industry partners who are all helping shape the future of fleet operations.
One thing events like this continue to remind us:
People do business with people.
The conversations, shared ideas, and relationships built in spaces like these are what continue pushing the industry forward.
We appreciate everyone who took the time to connect with us and look forward to continuing to grow alongside this community.
The J3 way is simple:
Build relationships. Build smarter systems. Build solutions that last.

If you saw J3 Management Group and J3 Upfitters sharing space at NAFA, you may have wondered:
Why are tag, title, registration, and upfitting in the same booth?
Because fleets do not operate in silos.
A vehicle can be compliant on paper and still not be ready to perform in the field.
That is where the connection matters.
J3 Management Group helps keep fleets moving behind the scenes with registration, renewals, title work, and compliance support.
J3 Upfitters helps make those vehicles ready for the work itself with shelving, partitions, ladder racks, storage systems, and custom upfit solutions.
One side helps keep the fleet compliant.
The other helps make the fleet capable.
Together, they support the bigger goal:
less downtime, smoother operations, and vehicles that are ready for the job ahead.
So no, the connection is not random.
It is intentional.
From compliance to capability.

Let’s talk about what your day actually looks like.
Not the highlight version.
The real version.
You open the van.
You already know the job you’re about to do…
but now you have to find what you need to do it.
You check one shelf.
Then another.
Then a drawer.
“It’s somewhere in here.”
You lose 2 minutes.
Then 5.
Then 10.
Now multiply that by:
– every stop
– every technician
– every day
That’s not just time.
That’s money.
That’s frustration.
That’s fatigue your team carries into the next job.
And most fleets accept it.
Because they think:
“That’s just part of the job.”
It’s not.
At NAFA, we talked about equipment with Maven Fleet.
Partitions. Shelving. Drawer units.
All important.
But here’s what most people skip over:
Bad workflow doesn’t get fixed by adding more equipment.
It gets fixed by designing how your vehicle functions.
Before anything gets installed, we ask:
What does your day actually look like?
What do you grab first?
What slows you down?
What gets in your way?
Because if your setup isn’t built around that…
you’re not solving the problem.
You’re just organizing inefficiency.
And that costs more than people realize.
If you’ve ever thought:
“There has to be a better way to set this up…”
You’re right.
That’s where we come in.
Curious how your current setup stacks up? Let’s talk.
Most fleets start with a list.
“I need shelves.”
“I need a partition.”
“I need drawers.”
But that is the wrong starting point.
The real question is:
How does your vehicle need to work from the moment your driver opens the door?
At NAFA, Ray from Maven Fleet walked through the equipment. Partitions for safety. Drawer units for access. Shelving to maximize space.
All solid.
But here is what most people miss.
If your technician has to:
– climb in and out of the van multiple times
– dig through drawers to find one part
– reach over equipment to grab tools
– stop mid-job because something is not where it should be
then the problem is not the equipment.
It is the layout.
A well-built upfit should answer questions like:
Where does your most-used tool live?
Can it be reached without stepping into the van?
What does your driver grab first, second, third?
What slows your team down during the day?
What creates risk during hard stops or long routes?
That is what we design around.
Maven builds quality equipment.
J3 Upfitters builds the system that makes that equipment work for you.
So before you choose products, take a step back.
How should your vehicle actually function?
Because that answer determines everything else.
