"I'll get to it when things settle down."

I have said this sentence about approximately forty things in my career, and I want to report back on how it went.

It never settled down. Not once. Not one single year.

The worst part of a lesson going badly was never the lesson. For me it was Sunday.

Sunday is when I'd sit down and try to fix it : alone, from memory, with no real idea which part had gone wrong. I'd rebuild the activity. It would go badly again. I'd rebuild something else.
