Wallace State Student Launches Pest Control Startup

A conversation at a family lake house has grown into a business venture for a 20 year old Alabama college sophomore.

Brodie McAnnally, a student and employee at Trident Marina on Smith Lake, is co-founder of Bugglie, a startup he says is focused on making professional grade pest control more convenient and affordable for homeowners.

The idea took shape a few years ago when McAnnally listened to his father discuss the rising cost of pest control, the inconvenience of scheduling technician visits, and the frustration of paying more each year for the same results. That conversation raised a question that became the company’s mission. Why does protecting your home have to be done the same way it has been for decades?

McAnnally spent the following year researching the pest control industry and looking for ways to improve the customer experience.

“People shouldn’t have to wait around for appointments or feel like they’re overpaying for something that should be simple,” McAnnally said. “We wanted to create a solution that puts convenience and affordability first without sacrificing effectiveness.”

Bugglie is currently expanding its reach and looking to connect with homeowners across Alabama.
