MoonShine Ranch Gives a safe and HAPPY home to horses and donkeys that have been used up and cruelly discarded, abused, neglected or simply need a safe place to call home.

Saying goodbye to these precious donkeys was SO SO SO hard! But we have precious memories:)

Today we had to give our last hugs and kisses to Baby Hamlet and his sweet mama “PB” (short for Peanut Butter:) as they went home to live in their own pasture with Big Daddy “J” (short for Jelly:). They came to us when Baby H was a few days old so that he could grow up safely in a barn his first few months of life in this wild and crazy world.🥰 What a privilege this time has been! These two are the sweetest donkeys and if I were an awful person I would have run away with them! 😂 But they have a wonderful family so instead we just had a good ol hug fest followed by tears and said good bye for now.

Summer Evenings like this, with the horses grazing…pure peace.

This is my mantra, what I tell myself on days when there’s work to be done and the heat hits you when you walk outside. “Hey warrior…Keep going! You got this” (Yeah…Right)😂🤦‍♀️
But on a side note I did make a new welcome mat! So there’s that. Lol

Moonshine Ranch Horses (and Toast the mini Donkey) say HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!

With the Kentucky Derby coming up, I got a call from a local school group asking if a few students could visit the ranch and talk with me about racehorses and the effects of racing on horses and their life when they’re done with their race career.
HOLY COW! Did someone tell them that I’ve studied this endlessly and I have a true LOVE/HATE relationship with the sport? (Basically I love watching it but I hate what I’ve learned about it, and no matter what anyone says, it isn’t always pretty) Anyway I was happy to share info with them so they could finish their group project and we had a GREAT day! Thanks for visiting!!

PS…IF I had to choose, I pick SO HAPPY for the WIN tomorrow!

I totally get the meaning of “riding the fences” or “checking fences”. Good thing I love this handsome boy so much! 😂🥰
