I had tears in my eyes as I watched Tom Stolle speak about disability ministry to the messengers at the Southern Baptist Convention this morning.The words spoken on stage and in the powerful video shared were beautifully expressed truths of which so many leaders and congregation members are tragically unaware. A resolution was presented and accepted becauee of obedient steps taken by Sandra Wood Peoples, Tom Stolle, Jana Wilson Magruder, and the rest of the Task Force. They were chosen for "such a time as this" and today is a milestone moment in the SBC for those of us whose hearts long for our churches to be places of belonging for all people. For the last 15 years as I have taught DBU Graduate School of Ministry students, the cry of my heart has been for our congregations to match the demographics of their surrounding communities so that our church bodies may be made complete. My fervent prayer is for our Father to open eyes and hearts in new ways with leadership and congregants embracing the call to help make the gospel accessible to all. May our sovereign God ignite hearts in fresh and new ways to see barriers never before noticed. May He lead, guide, and encourage as they begin to grasp that the Great Commission applies to every person made in His image with no exceptions!

Lord, we praise you for this significant day and all that is to come! Help us know how to best support and equip churches who are thinking about this for the very first time as well as those already taking steps toward making the body complete. We ask in the name of Jesus who showed us how to seek out, embrace, and engage with those living with disability.
