On Sunday, our Associate Board hosted our first Partner & Volunteer Picnic at Lincoln Park! There were lawn games, music, fall sunshine, and a spread cooked up by our Food Rescue Kitchen, The FoRK.

This was our way of saying thank you to the volunteers who serve at pantries, deliver food rescues, and show up week after week. You're the reason we can reach neighbors across Northeast Ohio. Seeing so many of you in one place was the best part of our month.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, Hunger Network has surpassed our original $20,000 fundraising goal.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but we also know the need doesn’t stop at a number. With the rest of September still ahead, we’re setting our sights on a new goal: $30,000.

One million rescues — what an incredible milestone. 💚

Food Rescue Hero has officially reached one million food rescues across its network, and Hunger Network is proud to be one of the contributing partners helping move good food where it’s needed instead of letting it go to waste.

Behind every rescue is a volunteer choosing to show up — picking up surplus food from grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries and other food donors and delivering it to nonprofit partners in their communities.

Here in Northeast Ohio, our own Food Rescue Heroes are part of that larger movement, giving their time and energy to help connect good food with our neighbors.

During Hunger Action Month, we’re especially proud to celebrate this milestone and the collective impact of volunteers and partners across the Food Rescue Hero network. 🧡💚

Their time, energy and generosity help us continue connecting our neighbors with the food and resources they need.

Meet Food Rescue Hero Ivanka Hrnja.

Since joining Hunger Network Food Rescue, Ivanka has rescued more than 2,200 pounds of food, supported 12 nonprofit partners and helped prevent more than 4,300 pounds of CO₂ emissions.

Her favorite rescue is Insomnia Cookies in Lakewood because the deliveries always bring smiles. 🍪
Ivanka says it best:
“Volunteering as a Food Rescue Hero requires nothing more than time and compassion.”

Hunger Action Month reminds us that everyone has a role to play in creating a community where no one goes hungry and no good food goes to waste. Ivanka shows just how much impact one person can make.

Hunger Action Month starts today — and action can look a lot like this. 💚🍏

On August 20, Hunger Network Trustees and Associate Board members joined our team at MidTown Market for a hands-on Board Day of Service.

They spent the morning serving alongside our team and volunteers, connecting with neighbors and experiencing firsthand the work that happens at MidTown Market every week.

After the shift, everyone gathered at the FoRK for lunch prepared by Chef Shane and Sous Chef Dusty — a chance to connect, reflect and enjoy a meal together.

As we begin Hunger Action Month, we’re grateful for everyone who chooses to show up, pitch in and help make a difference for our neighbors.

👶💚 Caring for Midtown's Littlest Neighbors

Starting tomorrow, September 1, we're kicking off Hunger Action Month with our Baby Essentials Community Drive at Hunger Network's Midtown Market!

Now through September 30, we're collecting essential baby items for local new moms and their little ones. Next time you're doing your grocery shopping, consider picking up an extra item or two to drop in our donation bins.

🍼 Most needed: diapers (all sizes), baby formula, baby food, and any other baby essentials you can find in our aisles!

Every pack of wipes and can of formula makes a real difference for a family in our community. Let's kick off Hunger Action Month by supporting our littlest neighbors. 🏡✨
