We’re so grateful to our friends at Beck Center for the Arts—and to everyone who has already donated to the Mean Girls Hygiene Drive! 💕

There are only TWO weekends left to help stock out pantry shelves with much-needed hygiene and household essentials. If you’re headed to Mean Girls, bring an item to donate—and stop by the Hunger Network table to say hello!

Let’s finish strong before August 9! 💖

Earlier this month, our Hunger Relief Site Managers came together at Bethany Baptist Church for a morning of connection, collaboration, and delicious snacks prepared by our chefs in our Food Rescue Kitchen, the ! 💚

Led by our Program Director, Emma Messett, the meeting focused on what our partners are seeing right now: increasing demand for food and the inventory needed to meet it. We also covered annual July compliance requirements and put our heads together to brainstorm new volunteer sources and services we could purchase collectively at lower rates.

We appreciated having guest speakers Jess Morgan, Chief Programs Officer, and Vontrice Jones, Vice President of Community Partnerships, at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, join the conversation and share their insights.

We also welcomed medical students from Case Western Reserve University’s Horizons Clinic, who shared information about the free care they provide for uninsured and underinsured Clevelanders.

These gatherings give us time to share ideas, learn from one another, and find new ways to strengthen our network. Thank you to Bethany Baptist Church for hosting us and to all of our site managers and partners for everything you do! 🍏

Good food should feed people — not landfills. 🍏💚

Hunger Network is proud to join U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Feed It Onward initiative, a national effort that recognizes organizations working to recover and repurpose surplus food.

Through food rescue and community partnerships, we help keep good food in use and get it to neighbors who need it. Reducing food waste helps families, supports our community, and is better for the environment.

We’re excited to be part of this national effort—and to keep showing how surplus food can create meaningful impact when we feed it onward.

More food rescued. More lives impacted. 💚🍏

The first half of 2026 brought incredible momentum for Hunger Network :

🍏 3,544 food rescues completed
💚 $1.7 million worth of food saved
🌎 1.8 million pounds of CO₂ mitigated

From January through June, we rescued 88,399 more pounds of food than during the same period in 2025—the equivalent of 73,669 additional meals reaching our community.

Since the program began in 2018, our Food Rescue Heroes, food donors and nonprofit partners have worked together to rescue 9 million pounds of food, equal to approximately 7.5 million meals.

Every rescue adds up. Every volunteer makes a difference. And every partnership helps good food reach our neighbors.
