Ten years ago, Code Platoon started with nine students and a hunch: that Veterans and military family members deserved a better pathway into careers in technology.

Nearly 700 graduates later, that idea has become a decade-long mission.

Today, we’re proud to share Ten Years — a special short film telling the story of how Code Platoon grew from its earliest cohort into the community it is today.

Told through the voices of founder Rod Levy, board members, and graduates who lived it, this is a story about listening, adapting, and refusing to give up on the people who served.

A lot has changed in ten years. The mission hasn’t.

Ten years ago, DRW took a chance on Code Platoon.

In 2016, they signed on as a sponsor of our very first cohort—before we had a track record, hundreds of graduates, or any idea what the next decade would bring.

They’ve been with us ever since.

Over the last ten years, DRW has hosted 31 apprentices from Code Platoon, and extended 25 full-time offers to our graduates.

That’s why, as we celebrate Code Platoon’s tenth anniversary, we’re proud to recognize DRW as our Corporate Partner of the Decade.

Wednesday night is Celebrate Code Platoon!

That also means many members of the Code Platoon team are in Chicago this week for our annual staff retreat and to celebrate ten years of Code Platoon.

We may be a small team, but we are mighty!

These are some of the most passionate, dedicated people you'll meet, united by a shared commitment to helping Veterans and military families build meaningful careers in technology.

It's not often we get everyone together in one place, and we're making the most of it. A little collaboration, a lot of celebration, and plenty of excitement for what's ahead.

On National POW/MIA Recognition Day, we honor the brave servicemembers who endured captivity as prisoners of war and those who remain missing in action. Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom and the resilience of the military community.

Only 150 entries. One pretty incredible night at the United Center.

Code Platoon’s Katherine and Nia were excited to be part of today’s Veterans Forward Resource Fair at the Comprehensive American Job Center in Pilsen!

Events like Veterans Forward give us the opportunity to connect directly with Veterans, military family members, and community organizations across Chicago—and share how Code Platoon’s software engineering programs can help members of the military community take the next step toward a career in tech.
