LADDERS!
While most of us enjoyed playing the board game chutes & ladders as little kids, it is probably safe to say that most of us didn’t know how important ladders would be to us in our profession as adults. Ladders are core life saving tools for us in the fire service. From ground ladders to aerial ladders they are used for rescue, roof access, ventilation and paths of egress (escape routes). We train on a regular basis with them, so we can be efficient with them during emergencies.

Just like flowers in the spring, our signs are popping up everywhere! Remember to vote “YES” for public safety this November!

When cardiac arrest happens, every minute matters. A quick EMS response can mean the difference between life and death, allowing trained responders to begin high-quality CPR, provide defibrillation, and deliver advanced lifesaving care as quickly as possible.

Having staffed fire stations means help is ready to respond when the call comes in—because during a cardiac emergency, there simply isn’t time to waste.

Tomorrow is the first of several Town Hall meetings where you can learn more about the proposed EMS Levy (Proposition #1).

SCFD3 will be hosting a series of EMS Levy Town Hall Meetings throughout the District. These are opportunities to hear directly from District leadership about why the levy is being proposed, what it would cost, what it would fund, and what it could mean for emergency response — and to ask your questions.

On November 3rd, residents who reside within the protection boundaries of Spokane County Fire District #3 will be asked to vote YES on Proposition #1—an important measure that directly impacts the safety of our communities.

When an emergency happens, every minute matters. Proposition #1 would provide critical funding to maintain essential fire and EMS equipment, maintain current staffing levels, and provide funding to staff two additional stations in Spangle and Cheney 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Having trained Fire/EMS professionals staffed in our communities around the clock means resources are ready when they are needed most—whether responding to a house fire, medical emergency, vehicle collision, wildfire, or other all-hazard emergency.

This measure is about keeping our communities protected and ensuring our Fire/EMS system has the staffing, equipment, and resources necessary to respond when someone calls 911.

On November 3rd, please support the safety of our families, neighbors, and communities by voting YES on Proposition #1. 🚨

NEVER FORGET
25 years. A quarter of a century. An entire generation. That's how long it's been since the world changed forever on 9.11.2001. Most of who were able to remember the tragic events that day remember exactly where and what they were doing that morning.

Earlier this morning, Local 1919 was able to participate in the 9.11 Memorial Stair Climb at Roos Field on EWU's campus. We feel it is a collective responsibility to honor the lives lost and the sacrifices made by first responders and ordinary citizens on 9.11 and to ensure all current and future generations always remember.

HAPPY LABOR DAY!
This Labor Day, we honor the strength of the American workforce and our brothers and sisters in the fire service. For firefighters, this day is a reminder of the continuous fight for safer workplaces, fair pay, and strong representation. Thank you to the hardworking men and women keeping our neighborhoods safe today and every day. We hope our communities have a safe and happy holiday!

COME CLIMB SOME STAIRS WITH US!
Join us next Friday on 9/11 for a Memorial Stair Climb on the EWU Campus at Roos Field (the football stadium). This is a FREE community event put on by EWU's Office of Community Engagement to honor the sacrifices that so many did that day 25 years ago. Participants are invited to do the stair climb challenge or take a walk/jog/run around the track symbolizing the Tunnel to Towers distance. We look forward to our community joining us for this unique event!
