The Carthage R-9 School Foundation is excited to kick off another school year in Carthage, MO! This week marks our first "Foundation Five" weekly update. Each week the "Five" will inform you of what we have going on, including important information about upcoming events, fundraiser and contest dates and scholarships.

Last week marked the official kickoff for teachers, Convocation 2026! The Foundation attended and gave away a super cute Gilmore Girls bag of goodies at the raffle. Congrats to Jaime Horton at the CTC-South for winning!

We also signed teachers up for the Employee Payroll Deduction pre-tax option on their paychecks. This donation supports the Foundation and its administrative costs throughout the year, with the option to give one-time or monthly, both pre-tax, much like a flex plan. We signed up six new teachers, and we THANK YOU for your support! We also drew this morning for the winner of the $100 gift card and the winner was...(drumroll)...Leslie Ordonez of the district administration office! Your gift card will be dropped off this week.🐯📨

The Foundation also mailed out all of the scholarship checks to last year's senior recipients. Fall college freshman, watch for notifications for your scholarship and registrar's office!

The Foundation accepted a donation from the Carthage Masonic Lodge for the Carthage School District and our Raise the Curtain Auditorium campaign. Thank you to Dr. Wagoner and the Carthage Masonic Lodge for their continued generosity toward our schools! Your donation helps us build a future for our students and teachers.

🍎🚌📌It's almost time for the school year to begin! As last year's seniors prepare to head to their new college experience, I wanted to give a scholarship check update. This year's scholarship checks will be sent to the students' universities probably the first of next week. We are still waiting for one of our checks to arrive from the donor, and then everything will get mailed out.

Students, stay alert for my message notifying you that everything has been sent to your school, as they will require you to endorse the backs of your checks upon receipt.

Have a great year, and teachers and staff, make sure to find the Foundation at this year's convocation on August 20th at CHS!

This was an exciting day for our district! The Topping Ceremony signifies when the highest beam in the construction project is ready to be placed. All the key members of this project got to sign this beam before it is put in the top of the new Carthage Performing Arts Center!

It's amazing to see this project come to fruition! Thank you to Crossland Construction, Hight Jackson and our administration of Dr. Boyer and Dr. Goodnight for setting up this meaningful ceremony that allowed us to put a little piece of our hearts on something that will last for generations. Thank you to the Board of Education and the Foundation Board for supporting these dreams and working together to continually make things happen. Teamwork makes the dreamwork!

Today we celebrate our Helen S. Boylan Art and Writing Contest winners! In this jam-packed week of activities, contests and events, what a perfect way to recognize some of our best and brightest art and writing students at Carthage High School!

Students competed in the categories of Essay - open subject, Fiction, Poetry, 3-D Art, Painting, Drawing and Photography to show off their skills and creativity amongst their fellow CHS students.

$50,000 from the Helen S. Boylan Foundation for the “Ida Ruth Locarni Vocal Music Suite”

$250,000 from the Phelps and Holman families for the “John O. And Carolyn B. Phelps Auditorium Lobby”
