Journey into the bustling streets of 1870s London to uncover the story behind one of the world’s greatest fictional detectives. Young Arthur Conan Doyle, an aspiring doctor with a curious mind, is taken under the wing of the brilliant Dr. Joseph Bell, a man with sharp observations and keen intellect. When a thrilling new mystery emerges, Arthur and his lively circle of friends must unravel a web of intrigue, danger, and deception. An exciting adventure that blends suspense, history, and heart, imagining how the seeds of a legend could have been planted in the mind of a young storyteller.

On the heels of last season’s hit, Heebie Jeebies: Tales from the Midnight Campfire, local playwright & educator, Gina Montét, returns to The Lab with another play commissioned specifically for our annual Heckscher Theatre for Families Production. With characters inspired by historical figures, this action-packed detective story is an entertaining and educational thrill-ride for audiences of all ages!

Performances: Saturdays at 7pm, Sundays at 3pm

Gina Montét returns to The Lab in our 2026-2027 Season with another play commissioned specifically for this year’s Heckscher Theatre for Families Production: Baker Street Beginnings. This past season, Heebie Jeebies by Montét was our best selling Heckscher Theatre for Families show ever!
More than 600 students attended our field trip performances and another 150+ joined us at public performances!

Now in its third year, the Owl New Play Festival, presented by Theatre Lab and the Department of Theatre & Dance at Florida Atlantic, invites theatre-goers and new play enthusiasts from around the country to join us here in Boca Raton for some of the most exciting new work in the American Theatre!

As with past years, the two full productions in the festival are connected by a common theme. The 2027 Owl New Play Festival highlights the true stories of women who were forgotten by or erased from history. On April 10, 2027, Theatre Lab opens their world premiere production of Recognition by Ken Weitzman. The following weekend marks the opening of The Devil’s Wheel, a new play by Vincent Delaney, produced by the Department of Theatre & Dance.

Over three weeks in April, you and your friends from around the country are invited to join us to experience these two shows, lectures/discussions on the themes found in the work, readings of more new plays!
