In the beginning, there was a perfect place—the Garden of Eden. It was beautiful, full of life, and home to Adam and Eve, the first humans. Everything was exactly as God created it to be. Imagine living in a perfect garden. What would it look like? What kinds of plants and animals would be there?

Let's find out what happened in this garden from Genesis 2:15–17.
God gave Adam and Eve one important rule to follow: "Do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." The Garden of Eden was a place with no sadness, shame, or loneliness. There were no hurtful words, no death, just goodness and love. Can you imagine a world like that?

Let's read Genesis 3:1–5.
The serpent told lies to Adam and Eve, twisting God's truth. The serpent made it seem like God was keeping something good from them. But God wasn't keeping anything good—God was protecting them. Sin is when we disobey God and choose our own way. It's when we make choices that hurt God, others, and ourselves. Sin isn’t just about breaking rules—it’s about breaking our relationship with God.

See what happened in Genesis 3:6–9.
Adam and Eve believed the serpent's lies and ate the fruit. Right away, their eyes opened to the knowledge of good and evil. They were embarrassed and scared and tried to hide from God—they had never felt that way before. But can we hide from God? No way—God always knows where we are.

Let's read Genesis 3:10–15 to see what happened next.
That one lie changed everything. Adam and Eve doubted God’s love and disobeyed. Sin separates us from God and the good things God wants for us. It doesn't just hurt us. It affects the whole world too. But this isn’t the end of the story—God had a plan.

What was God’s plan to fix the broken connection caused by sin? God sent Jesus, God’s own son, to save us and restore the connection. Because of Jesus, even though we sin and make harmful choices, we can connect to God again. There are still consequences for sin, but God is always with us. From the very beginning, God's plan was always to save us and bring us back into God's love!

SAY THIS: This cross looks amazing! What a great way to remember our memory verse for the month. "The Earth is the Lord's and everything in it." Psalm 24:1a
