Don’t Just Be Accepted to College, Be Ready for Success!
Succeeding independently while in college goes far beyond just getting accepted. While the academic portion is still crucial, keeping up with school along with many of the new responsibilities that come with becoming a young adult can be difficult if their skills aren’t up to par. Being able to not only understand classwork, but maintain their independent life are what helps them achieve the goals they are working towards.

Organization, time management, task initiation and completion, living with others, social skills, emotional regulation, and so much more are needed. In college, students are expected to be able to manage these things on their own. Peers will often not tolerate being treated poorly because the other is ‘having a bad day,’ do their chores for them because they are ‘overwhelmed,’ or be kept awake because a young adult didn’t manage their time properly and now needs stay awake late in their shared room to study. Rather, they will expect their roommate to be able to manage these things on their own even if those things do occur, because that’s what they do. If not, this can cause strain on the relationship, and as time goes on, that peer or friend may no longer want to associate with them. Without a support system, these struggles can be even harder for young adults, and it goes far beyond the social aspect.

College in general can be overwhelming. It is a time for them to figure things out. Who they want to be, and how, but if they are unprepared, this may cause them to stray away from the idea of becoming independent altogether. According to Good Faith Media, “A new Lumina Foundation and Gallup 2024 State of Higher Education Study finds 35% of college students have thought about leaving school in the past six months. The top reasons given are mental health and stress.” So much is already changing and giving students the tools they need to feel prepared when at college can help ease a lot of the emotional stress that comes with it. This in return can help prevent them from becoming one of the ones who want to drop out and return home, and the College Life Skills Programs is equipped with the tools to help them not only feel prepared but be prepared.

Our team of Doctoral and Master level professionals utilizes a series of highly individualized strategies, services, and techniques to help young adults who are college bound, in college, and even after college succeed in and after their transition into adult life. We help teach them skills they need to be independent so they can be successful in the real and work world, help them learn how to balance independent life on their own, and other life, executive functioning, social skills, and emotional maturity. If your young adult is struggling with the transition into college and adulthood, CollegeLSP has the tools to aid them in achieving and generalizing such skills.
