💛 Building Frustration Tolerance Takes Practice! 💛

Frustration is a normal emotion for both kids and adults! Learning how to handle frustration is a skill that develops over time, just like building a muscle. 💪

Instead of immediately solving a challenge for your child, try offering support while giving them opportunities to work through it:

✨ Break tasks into smaller steps to make challenges feel more manageable
✨ Offer hints or encouragement instead of immediately giving the answer
✨ Help name the feeling: “I can see you’re frustrated. This is hard!”
✨ Praise the effort, even when the task doesn’t go perfectly
✨ Model calming strategies like deep breathing, wall pushes, or other safe ways to release frustration
✨ Show them what coping looks like by staying calm and talking through your own feelings when things don’t go as planned

Remember, the goal isn’t to eliminate frustration, it’s to help children learn that they can experience frustration and still keep going. 🌱

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Olivia

This month, we're excited to introduce Olivia!

Olivia is one of our amazing Registered Behavior Technicians. She has worked in the field of ABA as a behavior technician, trainer, and mentor for others. Olivia has held her RBT certification for over a year and is currently working towards earning a bachelor's degree in psychology. Her goal is to become a BCBA one day, and we will cheer her on along the way!

Olivia is enthusiastic about building relationships with each child she works with, taking pride in watching them grow. She loves how ABA teaches children communication, social, and daily living skills with fun, engaging activities to make mastering new skills feel both natural and enjoyable.

We are proud to have Olivia on our team, and we look forward to seeing her grow and make a difference in this field.

⏰ August Tip Reminder: Make Transitions Easier

Does your child struggle when it's time to leave the playground, turn off the TV, or clean up toys?

Instead of asking them to stop suddenly, try giving countdown reminders:
🕔 "5 more minutes."
🕑 "2 more minutes."
🕐 "One more minute, then we're all done."

Using a visual timer or showing a picture of the next activity can make transitions even smoother by helping your child know what to expect.

Remember, the goal isn't to eliminate every difficult transition; it's to make them more predictable. With consistency and practice, many children begin to feel more confident moving from one activity to the next.
