After renovations at Weinberg House were completed last month, residents are back in their apartments and enjoying refreshed spaces throughout the building, from the beautiful second-floor lounge to brand-new kitchens and bathrooms.

Beyond the physical improvements, residents say the renovations have made daily life easier and strengthened their pride in the community. As one resident shared, “Having the building renovated shows me that the people responsible for this community really care.”

These improvements are part of CHAI’s 15-year Preservation Project, an effort to revitalize 15 affordable senior housing properties and preserve them for decades to come.

We are grateful to announce a $5 million grant from The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, payable over five years, to support this work to help ensure older adults can continue to live safely and affordably in the community.

We're excited to welcome Danisha Greene to the CHAI team as our new Office Administrator!

Danisha brings strong organizational skills, professionalism, and a proactive approach from more than eight years of experience supporting executive leadership, business operations, property management, and client services.

Her passion for finding solutions and helping teams work efficiently makes her a wonderful addition to CHAI.

On Monday, CHAI's team came together for a day of learning and connection.

We explored Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs for Communities and reflected on how our work strengthens the fabric of neighborhoods. We also used the DiSC model to better understand our different communication styles and how we work together effectively as a team.

Investing in our staff is an investment in our mission, and opportunities like this help us bring even greater intention to our work every day.

Home repairs can be a significant challenge for older adults living on fixed incomes.

When the cost of critical porch roof repairs exceeded the assistance available through CHAI's Senior Home Repair and Benefits program, our new Senior Home Repair Deferred Loan helped bridge the gap.

As the first completed deferred loan project, this milestone demonstrates how CHAI's programs work together to ensure older adults can maintain their homes, remain independent, and age in community.

Last week at the Edward A. Myerberg Center's Summer Social, we kicked off the Friends of the Myerberg Annual Giving Campaign!

The Friends Campaign is one of the most important ways our community supports the Myerberg's mission. Donations help us sustain our day-to-day operations, maintain our building, and support the 80+ programs and activities we offer each week for nearly 1,000 members.

We're excited to announce that our Friends of Myerberg Committee has already committed $24,000 to launch this year's effort.

The Edward A. Myerberg Center, a program of CHAI, has been a hub of activity and meaningful connection among older adults in Baltimore for 50 years.

Maryland House Speaker Joseline Peña-Melnyk recently visited CHAI to hear directly from residents about life in northwest Baltimore.

Neighbors shared their experiences, concerns, and priorities for their communities, offering valuable perspectives on the issues that shape daily life.

By convening residents, community stakeholders, and public-sector partners, CHAI helps create opportunities for community voices to be heard, connections to be built, and shared neighborhood goals to move forward.
