Building Belonging Through PJ Library - Jewish Connection Network 05/26/2026

What starts as a bedtime story can grow into something much bigger.

At this year’s PJ Library International Conference, Baltimore parent connectors Ellie Batkhan, Beth Am Synagogue Parent Partner Connector, and Jenna Lessans, Krieger Schechter Day School (KSDS) Partner Connector, reflected on how PJ Library helped them build friendships, navigate parenting and create meaningful Jewish connection through every stage of family life.

From playdates to holiday celebrations and everyday moments in between, PJ Library helps families feel seen, supported and connected to community.

Together with fellow PJ Library professionals, various federations, community partners, parent connectors, and staff members from the national Harold Grinspoon Foundation office, our Jewish Connection Network professionals Lindsay Gaister Montague, Amy Goldberg, and Jenna Lessans engaged in meaningful learning, collaboration, and idea-sharing at this year's PJ Library International Conference in Springfield, MA!

They have just returned home, inspired and energized, with new insights, tools, data, and relationships that will help deepen and expand our family engagement work in Baltimore.

It was also a great honor for them to be in the presence of Harold Grinspoon himself, whose generosity and vision are extraordinary, and whose commitment to building Jewish communities continues to shape and elevate this important work across the globe.

As part of this year's Good Deeds Month, Jewish Connection Network and PJ Library Baltimore were so grateful to have partnered with Adamah Adventure Camp at Pearlstone, whose spirit and focus on caring for the earth added a beautiful layer to the evening (and the month).

Together, families sang and danced during Family Shabbat, and then made nature crafts to take with them so they could help beautify their own neighborhoods.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and showed up with open hearts! And to the incredible people who worked together to make it all happen, thank you also... this is how connection begins… and grows! ✨💙
