This morning, the Aztec Police Department received reports of a young adult male near the intersection of Chaco Street and Aztec Boulevard carrying what appeared to be a shotgun.
Out of an abundance of caution, nearby schools were placed into a secure hold while officers responded to the area and began an investigation.
With the assistance of partnering law enforcement agencies, officers quickly determined there was no active threat to the public. The individual involved was in the process of transferring fi****ms from one apartment to another.
The secure hold was lifted once the situation was deemed safe.
We appreciate the community’s vigilance and encourage residents to continue reporting suspicious activity. The safety of our community remains our top priority.
