Time to Take the Plunge!

After almost a full decade of residing in the same location, it's time to take the plunge into new depths and waters!

I'm forever grateful to Dr. Jeremy Wiseman for welcoming me into his Cedar Park - Wiseman Family Practice location. I networked with Dr. Wiseman many years ago as he was building his integrative medical practice, and I was simultaneously building my own homeopathic practice here within the Austin community. I've always been a separate entity within the walls of the Wiseman Family Practice, but have thoroughly enjoyed being "a part of the family" all these years. I've loved the interactions with everyone I've met and worked alongside. I also have made wonderful connections within the integrative medical community, something I cherish and look forward to nurturing well into the future.

That being said, I'm thrilled to announce that beginning in August I will be moving to a new location! I'll be with some of the great practitioners I've met within the alternative medicine community, namely Katherine Bouchereau, Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbal Medicine Practitioner of Align Health Austin (https://www.alignhealthaustin.com/) , and Dr. Cori Seyhoon, Holistic Chiropractor, of Clearly Aligned (https://www.clearlyaligned.com/) . This is also the same location my wife has been practicing classical homeopathy for Liberty Homeopathy (https://libertyhomeopathy.com/) .

The new location is housed at 1001 Cypress Creek Rd in Cedar Park, Texas (https://maps.app.goo.gl/T11g1ipLwKJSxUZV8) . We're in suite 103. I will be working on updating all my documentation through the scheduling app over the next couple of weeks, as well as my paperwork and website, for as seamless a transition for you and your family as possible. I will also be in communication as that date draws near and send reminders and detailed information about these updates for your future appointments about where Austin Clinic of Homeopathy (https://www.austinclinicofhomeopathy.com/) will soon call home.

If you're a client who meets remotely with me, then of course, this information will not affect you and we'll meet online as we always do without any interruption! Because I am frequently asked about this, it's worth noting here that I also continue to be available for new clients who are not local to the Austin, Texas area.

I'm excited for this change and, regardless of location, I look forward to continuing to bring you the highest quality classical homeopathic care in this region, and beyond!

Permanent, Rapid, and Gentle

These are the three ideals of homeopathic care: that healing should be rapid, gentle, and a permanent restoration of your health. This means it’s not only the complete annihilation of dis-ease throughout an entire health system, but also in the shortest, most reliable, and most advantageous way for the entirety of the person.

Wow!…(Mic drop?)

I love this about homeopathy. Where else will receive such high ideals in the pursuit of your highest well-being?!

I’ve been meditating on these healing principles for awhile in recent weeks. These important principles are something I’m well-acquainted with after almost nearly 15 years of professional practice in the art and science of homeopathy. In certain ways, I’ve come to take it for granted. With anything in life, the more you do something, the more integrated it becomes into your everyday existence until it’s almost habitual and commonplace in one’s vernacular or being. I suppose this has been happening to me for some time.

Though, I was re-awakened to it after receiving a recent training (you can never learn enough!) on an important aspect of homeopathic remedies. I was reminded of something critical that occurs everyday in clinical practice, but was hidden behind the activities of everyday life and interactions with clients.

Permanent, gentle, and rapid.

In homeopathy, we ardently study the seminal work by its founder, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, called “The Organon of the Medical Art” (or “The Organon,” for short). Dr. Hahnemann first discovered some of the central tenets of homeopathy fairly accidental-like in the late 18th century. He later formulated, the system of medicine we call homeopathy. The Organon is a series of aphorisms that lay out for us the philosophy and practice of homeopathy, as well as so much more.

Aphorism 2 (6th edition) states:
The highest ideal of cure is the rapid, gentle, and permanent restoration of health; that is, the lifting and annihilation of the disease in its entire extent in the shortest, most reliable, and least disadvantageous way, according to clearly realizable principles.

This aphorism has been so grounded into my being that I’ve almost forgotten about it. But, this is what we do everyday for you. We homeopaths have dedicated our lives to a system of healing that does this exact thing…for you!

Against many odds, against cultural norms; against familiar customs of what medicine is thought, or ought, to be; at the risk of sounding and feeling ‘weird’ to everyone we know when we decided to enter into this field, here we are. Offering a permanent, rapid, and gentle solution to whatever ails you. Isn’t that wonderful!

It just caught me off-guard what we are indeed doing. I was struck by the simplicity and beauty of this medical healing art…once again. This happens from time to time. Things become so ingrained and it’s easy to forget the transcendent, extraordinary, almost miraculous work we are doing in homeopathy, every…single…day. It’s breath-taking, really.

If you feel called to a solution where the highest ideal of healing is the permanent, rapid, and gentle restoration of your health, then look no further. These promises await you in homeopathy.

We are blessed to have this year's conference just down the road in San Antonio in our great state of Texas! Conference dates are Friday-Sunday, March 24-26. JAHC is the annual premiere North American homeopathic conference and brings forth world-renowned homeopathic speakers, authors, and practitioners in one location. I’ve had the privilege of attending previous JAHC conferences and highly recommend it for all homeopathic home prescribers, lay practitioners, students, and professionals.

I’m thrilled to be a presenter this year! Latest with FDA

Over the past several years many of us in the homeopathic community, both consumer and practitioner alike, have been advocating for continued access to homeopathic medicines. This has been in response to changes the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) have made in their draft guidance. In short, homeopathic medicines are regulated by a set of guidelines FDA uses to govern the safety and effectiveness of homeopathic medicines in the marketplace. Several years ago they changed their standards, which can end up limiting access to homeopathic medicines in the United States.

We don't want that! What we have is not broken and indeed continues to ensure only safe and effective homeopathy is available on the shelves for everyday consumers.

It turns out FDA will be finalizing these new sets of guidelines and we need your help in letting them know that the draft guidance fails to regulate homeopathic medicines in accordance with the law.

We're looking for 40,000 comments by end of day, December 7! Please take a few seconds to comment and share this with your own social and family circles to help get the word out.

Here is a brief summary of recent events, as outlined by Paola Brown, President of Americans for Homeopathy Choice (AFHC):

"Back in 2017, the FDA created a new guidance policy that would significantly impact how homeopathic medicines are regulated in the United States. This new policy was revised in 2019, but it has remained in draft form for five years. The problem with this new draft guidance is that it only outlines a removal path for how the FDA will identify homeopathic medicines that need to be removed from the marketplace. We’re very concerned about this because a good policy would outline how medicines should enter the marketplace and what manufacturers and brand owners need to do to have their products enter the market as opposed to just outlining all the ways the FDA is going to remove medicines from the market.

[Very recently], we found out that the FDA has now sent this draft guidance to a special office at the White House to review and move forward with finalizing it. The FDA appears to be side-stepping their role by putting it on the White House to finalize it for them. This is not uncommon when a draft guidance gets a lot of attention or will have a major economic impact, and it’s possible that there have been so many public comments on this guidance and the FDA has gotten so much pushback on it that they’re kind of wanting the White House to step in and do it for them.

This move by the FDA is alarming and we must take urgent action. Americans for Homeopathy Choice is seeking a meeting at the White House with the office that would manage this draft guidance."

I will be co-facilitating a retreat with Prometheus Homeopathic Institute (PHI), where I train future professional homeopaths as a faculty member. We will be enjoying the great fall weather in Minnesota, my home state, for this great experience. I'm looking forward to it and will let you know how it goes!
