We enhance the quality of life of the Texans we serve through water stewardship, energy and community service.

One year can make a big difference.

Compared to this time last year, water levels in lakes Buchanan and Travis - the Highland Lakes’ two water supply reservoirs - are significantly higher following major inflows and runoff into the lake system over the past year.

Lake Buchanan is up more than 20 feet.
Lake Travis is up more than 32 feet.

While conditions have improved, lake levels can change quickly depending on rainfall, runoff and water use. That’s why we continue to encourage Texans to use water wisely year-round.

Levels shown are from May 28, 2025 compared to May 28, 2026.

What’s happening behind the scenes at LCRA during a flood? 🤔

During flood events, teams across LCRA are monitoring data, running flood models, taking field measurements and coordinating with partners across the region.

Correction: The date shown in the video should be 5/26. Sorry y’all - it was a long night for our crews and communications team alike.

Just before midnight, crews across the Highland Lakes were already monitoring conditions as storms moved through the region.

At 11:24 PM, LCRA’s River Operations team opened a floodgate at Starcke Dam to safely move water downstream into Lake Travis.

These are the moments our Dam & Hydro crews train for.

We are continuing to monitor conditions across the basin as additional storms remain possible this week.
