September went fast.
Labor Day, the first full week of school, the schedule filling in around activities and work and everything else that arrives with fall. Central Iowa in September does not ease you in.
We spent the month in homes across Ames, Ankeny, and West Des Moines the same way we spend every month: showing up, doing the work right, and leaving every home a little better than we found it.
The team that makes that happen is something Sara thinks about every single day. Technicians who hold themselves to the phClean Shine Certified standard without needing to be reminded. Office staff who pick up the phone and know your name. A company that has been showing up for central Iowa since 2006 and plans to be here for a long time yet.
If phClean takes care of your home, thank you. We do not take that trust lightly.
If you have been thinking about starting, October is a great time. The holidays are closer than they feel, and the families who get a recurring schedule running now come into November already set.

Meet Michelle, one of our Ankeny techs.
She's been with phClean for a year, and what she loves most about the job says a lot about how this company treats its own people. Techs here get the tools and the training to actually succeed, she says, instead of being given up on right away. Ask her coworkers to describe her and you'll hear it fast. Literally, the word is Fast.
Outside of work she's reading, walking trails, or a few episodes deep into a true crime podcast. She's a cat person through and through, ask her and she can probably tell you which cats are up for adoption at the ARL right now. When it comes to food, picking a favorite is a losing battle. Butter chicken, pupusas, pizza, sushi, she'll take all of it.

Karen said something we hear a lot, just not usually put quite so well: our people are the whole thing.
Madison and Makayla walked into her home and left it sparkling, but what actually earned this review was how they did it. Hard work and good hearts, every visit.
That's not an accident. That's who we hire.

phClean has been part of the central Iowa community for nearly 20 years, and giving back has been part of that from the beginning.
Cleaning for a Reason. Food at First. MS Moments. Dorothy's House. Can Do Cancer. Single Parent Provision. Rotary of Ankeny. Different school groups and non-profits.
Sara built phClean with the belief that a business is part of the community it operates in, not just a service provider inside it. The awards and the client relationships are things we are proud of. The giving is something we feel obligated to, in the best possible way.
We share these moments not to take credit for them but because we think it matters who you invite into your home. The company behind the technician at your door is one that has been showing up for central Iowa, in homes and in communities, since 2006.
That is still true today and we are grateful for it.

The bathroom is the room that goes fastest in a busy fall house.
More people using it on a tighter schedule. Less time to deal with it between uses. The surfaces that were manageable in summer are now showing the week by Wednesday.
A few habits that keep the fall bathroom from getting away from you:
Squeegee or wipe the shower glass after the last shower of the day. It takes twenty seconds and prevents the hard water film from setting. Once that film calcifies on glass it takes real effort to remove. Before it sets, a dry cloth does it.
Keep a canister of disposable wipes under every sink. A thirty-second wipe of the toilet rim, seat, and tank a few times a week stops a small job from becoming a bigger one.
Put a small basket or tray on the bathroom counter and clear everything else off. A counter with two items on it gets cleaned in seconds. A counter with twelve gets wiped around, and the residue builds underneath the things that never move.
On every recurring visit, our technicians scrub tile, grout, fixtures, toilet, and floors as part of the standard clean. The between-visit habits just mean the bathroom never gets to the point where it is bothering you before they arrive.

First day of fall.
The season that arrives quietly and then suddenly the whole calendar is full. Football weekends. School events. The holidays starting to show up at the edges. Central Iowa in the fall is one of the better places to be, and the pace of it reflects that.
The houses we clean this time of year have a certain energy to them. The summer looseness is gone. The routines are back. People want their homes to feel settled and ready for the season, not like they are still catching up from August.
That is what a recurring phClean schedule gives you heading into fall. The house is not something you are managing around the rest of life. It is just taken care of, every two weeks, by someone who knows it.
Here is to the first day of fall from the phClean team. Ames, Ankeny, and West Des Moines.

Meet Justin, one of our Ames techs.
He's been with phClean for 3 years on and off, and he says it simply. He's always been someone who loves to help, and if he can make a client's day even a little easier, he knows he's done his job well.
Ask him for his best moment on the job and he won't point to one single visit. It's all the fun stuff the team gets to do together. Ask his coworkers to describe him and you'll hear one word fast. Talkative. He'll tell you the best feedback isn't an email or a review, it's a client telling him face to face that he did a great job.
Off the clock, he's road tripping, taking photos, playing video games, or hanging out with his dog. Pho and Italian food both win, and he's usually got a true scary story episode of Booze & Boos podcast going in the background. Oh, and he does a genuinely good Kermit the Frog impression.
Ames, Justin's one of ours.

Fall is harder on floors than any other season.
The door opens and closes more times per day than it did all summer. Cleats and soccer shoes come in from practice. The dog tracks in what the yard has been accumulating since the last rain. Kids drop backpacks and whatever else landed in them at school. By Thursday the entryway alone tells the story of the whole week.
A few things that make a difference between visits:
Keep a mat at every exterior door, inside and out. Two mats catches significantly more than one. The outside mat knocks debris off. The inside mat absorbs the rest.
Vacuum high-traffic areas more frequently than the rest of the house. The entryway, the mudroom, and the path from the door to wherever everyone drops their things deserve attention twice a week. The guest bedroom does not.
For hardwood and LVP floors, a dry microfiber mop between cleanings picks up the surface layer before it gets ground in. It takes three minutes and the floors look maintained rather than neglected between phClean visits.
On every recurring visit, our technicians vacuum and mop all included floors as part of the standard clean. The habits between visits just mean the clean lasts longer and the floor never gets to the point where it is bothering you.

Today is National CleanUp Day, which means we are basically celebrating our entire business model.
Every day that phClean shows up in a home across Ames, Ankeny, or West Des Moines is a cleanup day. The stovetop from the week of heavy cooking. The bathroom that four people have been sharing. The floors that have seen every activity and muddy shoe since the last visit.
Our technicians do not think of it as a special occasion. It is Tuesday. It is what they do.
phClean Shine Certified puts every technician through 14 to 16 real training homes before they clean independently, and at least three months of supervised coaching after that. By the time they are in your home, cleanup is not something they need to be inspired to do. It is something they have been trained to do exceptionally well.
Happy National CleanUp Day from the phClean team. We will be celebrating the way we always do: by cleaning homes across central Iowa.

Lucas came home to a house that looked brand new. Not "cleaned." New.
That's the difference between a quick wipe-down and a team that actually gets into the details most people walk right past.
Professional, efficient, done right. We'll take that review any day.
