🔴 Open Call: Rhythms of Continuity
An artistic & curatorial residency in Săcel, Maramureș and Bucharest | August 1–24, 2026
We believe resilience is more than a reaction to crisis, it's also a daily practice. Through this residency, participants are invited to question the relationship between art and community and to uncover the invisible forms—the hidden labor and emotional networks—that sustain cultural life.
Rhythms of Continuity is an intensive research and creation residency exploring how cultural life is sustained where formal institutions falter. Drawing upon the concept of “people as infrastructure” (AbdouMaliq Simone), the residency translates theory into physical gesture: the body and its rhythms take over the task of maintaining continuity.
Two phases. Two worlds.
🌿 August 1–15 — Săcel, Maramureș: immersion in ancestral rural rhythms, workshops with local artists, life inside the community
🏙️ August 16–24 — Bucharest: urban cultural research, studio visits, dialogue with the city's art scene
Financial support includes:
✔ Travel covered (up to €350)

The European Alliance of Academies launches Re:Create Europe (2026–2029) — a four-year collaborative initiative co-funded by Creative Europe of the European Union.
Re:Create Europe responds to increasing pressures on artistic freedom across the continent by reinforcing resilience, solidarity, and cultural autonomy. Through mobility schemes, residencies, learning formats, and exchange, the project supports artists and cultural professionals while strengthening transnational cooperation in times of crisis.
Combining mobility programmes, residencies, blended learning, digital mapping, and conferences, Re:Create Europe empowers practitioners across disciplines and regions, fostering long-term collaboration and shared responsibility within Europe’s cultural ecosystem.
The project officially begins with a Kick-off Meeting on 25 March 2026 (2–4 pm), where partner organisations — including ARAC — will present their visions for the next four years. Under the theme “Transformation of Cultural Policies,” the first year centres on cultural resilience, institutional autonomy, and civic engagement through artistic practice.
