The valley of Avgarch, Boibar and Piryar once linked Shimshal to Gojal through Qaroon Pass with Karakoram Highway in Moorkhun valley in Gojal. Qaroon Pass which is over 5,000m was the summer route for Shimshal valley. From the picturesque village of Jamalabad to the deep valley of Avgarch - crossing foot bridges, climbing, jumping, falling, resting on these impossible slopes. There was once a well constructed road by the locals but was damaged in the 2015 flood disaster. With only a handful of people in the village it's like a peaceful retreat.
After lunch we went for a stroll to explore. This oldest wakhi settlement has a lot of historical buildings made out of raw stone and wood. Each ruin tells a story and its best to hear it from the locals. Thanks to our tour operator Mujahid Ali and his cousin Moix Karim for playing the guide. We met Raza Muhammad Sufi sahab and his son, I guess, while we were looking around an old home. People know him by the name of Sir Raza and he's been in the field of education since a good many years of his life. He must b 70.
Being born and raised in Karachi, Naba found it extremely difficult to step out of her comfort zone to explore Pakistan. Her passion for adventure began in 2013 which inspired her to explore the unprecedented mountain ranges of Pakistan.
She shares her experiences, Pakistani hospitality, their lives, stories, culture, cuisine and simplicity of the people with the rest of the world through her travelogues. Her ultimate wish is to settle in the mountains where she dreams to establish a learning center for children and equip them with digital skills.
