Day 7 – Mini Job Fair: My Dream Career Day – Chef Day!

Today, our tamariki had another exciting opportunity to explore a new career as part of our Mini Job Fair: My Dream Career Day. We were very lucky to welcome Darshana, a member of our whānau community, who works as a chef!

Darshana shared his experiences of working as a chef and talked with our tamariki about what a chef does, where they work, and the different responsibilities they have. He also introduced the children to some of the tools and equipment chefs use in the kitchen. 🥣🔪👩‍🍳

Tamariki were curious and engaged as they watched Darshana demonstrate how food is prepared. He then made delicious cheese bread for everyone to enjoy!

A huge thank you to Darshana for sharing his time, experience, and passion for cooking with us. The cheese bread was certainly a delicious highlight of our day!

🌟 Day 6 – Mini Job Fair: My Dream Career Day! 🌟

OUR BUSINESS MAN DAY!

Today, our tamariki enjoyed another exciting Mini Job Fair, where we welcomed another special guest speaker from our whānau community who owns a churros business, Raja! 🍩👨‍🍳

Raja shared his journey of discovering his passion for business and making delicious churros. He talked about how his interest and passion grew into a business and shared some of the special steps and ingredients that make his churros so yummy.

Tamariki were excited to watch a live demonstration of making churros dough and learn about the process from start to finish.
The highlight of the day was when all our tamariki had the chance to taste the delicious churros!

🌱✨ Ways to Amaze – Growing, Exploring & Creating! ✨🌱

As part of our school holiday programme, the babies enjoyed exploring the wonderful possibilities of recycled tins and cans, turning everyday materials into unique planting containers. 🌿♻️

The children scooped, poured, filled and planted, discovering different textures, weights and sensations as they worked with soil and natural materials. They experimented with how much soil to scoop, carefully handled their planters, and proudly created something of their own.

This hands-on experience supported learning through Te Whāriki, particularly Exploration | Mana Aotūroa, as children developed curiosity, confidence, coordination and an understanding of how things work. It also encouraged Contribution | Mana Tangata as children shared ideas, resources and discoveries with one another.

A Little Adventure into Space – Puāwai Room !

Our little astronauts have been letting their imaginations take flight! The tamariki enjoyed pretending they were traveling through space, climbing into their very own spaceship, and going on exciting imaginary adventures. With their kaiako alongside them, they also worked together to create their spaceship, using their ideas, creativity, and teamwork.

There were lots of little conversations, shared smiles, and wonderful moments of cooperation as they decided where their spaceship would take them. Through this play, our tamariki are building confidence, communication, problem-solving skills, creativity, social skills, and a growing sense of belonging.

DAY 5: MANAGER DAY | MINI JOB FAIR: MY DREAM CAREER DAY

Today, our tamariki had the wonderful opportunity to learn all about what it means to be a Manager.

We were so lucky to welcome our guest speaker, Sahil, who is part of our whānau here at preschool and works as a Manager at McDonald’s.

Sahil shared with our tamariki what his role as a manager involves, talked about his experiences, and gave our tamariki a glimpse into the different responsibilities that come with being a leader.

And to make the day even more special, Sahil kindly surprised our tamariki with some awesome toy giveaways! Needless to say, there were plenty of happy faces!

A huge ngā mihi nui to Sahil for taking the time to visit us, share his knowledge and experiences, and inspire our tamariki. We truly value the support and involvement of our whānau in creating meaningful learning experiences for our children!

🔧🚗 DAY 4: MECHANIC DAY | MINI JOB FAIR: MY DREAM CAREER DAY 🚗🔧

Our Mini Job Fair continues, and Day 4 brought another exciting career for our tamariki to discover!

Today, we welcomed another special guest speaker from our preschool whānau, Madhusanka, who works as a mechanic! He shared with the children what mechanics do, how they help keep vehicles safe and running smoothly, and introduced some of the different tools they use in their work.

The children were especially excited to see, hold, and try some of the mechanic tools themselves! 🔩🛠️ There were lots of eager hands and excitement as they experienced a little glimpse of what it is like to work as a mechanic!

A huge thank you to Madhusanka for taking the time to visit us and share his knowledge and experience with our tamariki. Having members of our own whānau involved makes our learning even more meaningful and helps our children connect their classroom experiences with the wider community. 💛🌟

DAY 3: LAWYER DAY | MINI JOB FAIR: MY DREAM CAREER DAY

Day 3 of our Preschool Holiday Programme, and we introduced our tamariki to the interesting world of law!

We were delighted to welcome James, one of our wonderful whānau members, as our guest speaker for Lawyer Day. James shared with our tamariki what a lawyer does, how lawyers help people, and some of the important responsibilities that come with the profession.

The experience became even more exciting when our tamariki had the opportunity to try on a lawyer’s gown and take turns using the gavel, giving them a fun little glimpse into the world of law and the courtroom!

A huge thank you to James and our whānau for taking the time to share this wonderful learning experience with our tamariki. Having our own families involved makes our School Holiday Programme even more meaningful and special.

Day 2 of Our School Holiday Programme: Nurse Day!

Today in our preschool room was all about caring, helping, and learning about the wonderful work nurses do! As part of our Mini Job Fair: My Dream Career Day, we were delighted to welcome one of our very own whānau members, Nurse Manju, as our special guest speaker.

Nurse Manju shared with our tamariki what it is like to be a nurse, the important ways nurses care for people, and some of the tools they use every day. The children were especially excited to get some hands-on experience, exploring and trying out different nursing equipment while Nurse Manju explained how each item is used.

A huge thank you to Nurse Manju for generously sharing her time, knowledge, and experiences with us. We loved having one of our whānau help inspire our tamariki to dream about who they might become one day. 💛🐝🩺✨

DAY 1 of our School Holiday Programme!

Our Mini Job Fair Has Officially Begun. What a fantastic way to kick off our preschool holiday fun! Our little learners brought their dreams to life as they dressed up and proudly took part in our Dream Career Parade. From doctors and teachers to chefs, firefighters, builders and so much more, our children confidently showcased the careers they dream of becoming one day.
