🧘♀️🌿 Yoga at its finest at Kowhai Preschool! 🌿🧘♂️
As part of our daily routine, our tamariki enjoy taking part in yoga sessions that help them build strength, balance, flexibility, and mindfulness. Through fun poses, stretching, and breathing exercises, children learn to relax, focus, and connect with their bodies in a positive way.
It's wonderful to see our little yogis embracing each pose with enthusiasm, confidence, and plenty of smiles! 😊
At Kowhai Preschool, we believe in nurturing the whole child, supporting not only their learning but also their physical and emotional wellbeing every day.

✨ Our pēpi room has been filled with curiosity, learning, and joy as tamariki explored books alongside their kaiako. Through shared reading experiences, our little learners were fully engaged, turning pages, pointing to pictures, listening to stories, and building early language skills.
Reading together creates meaningful connections and supports tamariki to develop a love for learning from an early age. It was wonderful to see their excitement, concentration, and growing confidence as they discovered new stories with the support and encouragement of their kaiako. 💛

Today our babies had so much fun exploring and creating their own little sheep 🐑✨ We used cardboard shapes and soft cotton wool in the middle, sticking it on with tape while the babies enjoyed touching and feeling the different textures 🤍☁️
We also sang “Baa Baa Black Sheep” together 🎶🐑 which made the experience even more exciting and interactive 😊 The babies were so engaged, curious, and happy throughout the activity 💕
To make their learning more meaningful, we displayed their beautiful sheep creations on the wall 🌈🖼️ so they can revisit and recognise their work again and again. Such a lovely sensory and creative experience for our little learners 🥰✨

🌸 Pink Shirt Day at Kōwhai Rūma 🌸
Today our tamariki at Kōwhai Rūma celebrated Pink Shirt Day by designing their very own pink t-shirts! 💗👕
Through creativity and conversation, the children explored the importance of kindness, inclusion, friendship, and standing up against bullying. Each design was unique and reflected the wonderful personalities and ideas of our tamariki.
We are so proud of our tamariki for sharing messages of aroha, kindness, and friendship with one another today. Thank you whānau for supporting us in celebrating a day that reminds us all to be kind and inclusive every day. 💕

CM on the house!
Our Centre Manager, Sunita Centre Manager facilitated mat time with our preschool tamariki, guiding a meaningful discussion about the Kōwhai Rules in our room. Together, the children talked about the importance of being kind, using gentle hands, listening to others, sharing resources, and taking care of our learning environment.
Mat time is a wonderful opportunity for tamariki to build their understanding of respect, responsibility, and positive relationships. Our preschoolers actively shared their ideas and showed great confidence in contributing to the discussion.
We are proud of how our tamariki are learning to work together and create a safe, happy, and welcoming space for everyone at Kōwhai Preschool. 🌼💛

We are truly grateful for the support and shared experiences that made this excursion so memorable.
Lest we forget 🌺

In the babies’ room, our tamariki explored the joy of mixing and textures through a hands-on baking experience 😊👶
Our kaiako guided the children as they cracked eggs 🥚, added juicy blueberries 🫐, mashed ripe bananas 🍌, and combined everything with flour 🌾.
There was so much excitement as the ingredients changed texture and came together! 😄 Tamariki were curious, engaged, and delighted to be part of the process—especially when it was time to enjoy the delicious blueberry muffins they helped create 🧁💙
This experience links beautifully to Te Whāriki, particularly the strands of Exploration | Mana Aotūroa and Wellbeing | Mana Atua, as children developed curiosity, confidence, and sensory awareness while actively participating in a meaningful, real-life activity 🌱✨ It also supported their growing independence and sense of contribution within the learning environment 🤝
What a wonderful way to learn through doing! 😍
