This weekend, I held sessions with some lovely clients.

On Saturday, I worked with two show dogs. The first is Reiki familiar and has been struggling with intermittent hind leg lameness, apparent during tense periods and as such has virtually ended his showing career. The second younger dog is a Reiki “newbie” having just returned from Crufts. He has developed a lack of confidence and anxiety around other dogs since being attacked by another dog. I was delighted to receive the following feedback from their owner after competing at an open show yesterday:

“OMG I don’t know how you did it but the boys were perfect! Noodles much more confident and won his class with reserve best of breed and Guz…….NO LAMENESS! I even managed to show him and he came 2nd!”

This weekend I visited a regular client to offer Reiki to her gelding after a long and busy period resulting in significant change for them both. This particular horse knows how to work with me and is very accepting of the energy, so given the opportunity he unexpectedly decided to transfer a build up of anxiety and emotion to me - something he has never done before.
Whilst it is overwhelming as a practitioner to receive a sudden negative wave such as this during a session, it’s easy enough for me to accept the transfer and release it, as most horses can’t do this for themselves, storing it indefinitely in their heart and sacral centres. In many cases, this build up doesn’t solely “belong” to the horse but is also secondary, having been absorbed directly from their owner.
Not all equine partnerships, such as the one I visited, are able to work with the Reiki energy to help maintain their wellbeing so it really is worth remembering that our horses are emotional sponges affected not only by environmental factors surrounding them but mostly by us. They are a direct reflection of their closest human being and this can have both a negative and positive effect on them.

It was lovely to see regulars Kathryn and Max out competing and getting placed in combined training this weekend just a week after they both had their last Reiki sessions. They have an amazing partnership so it's exciting to see them doing so well!

Last week I visited Chalice Well in Glastonbury for self energy cleansing and recharging. Glastonbury is said to sit on a ley line crossing and spiritually considered to be the Heart Centre of the Earth. For me, the energy at Chalice Well is so amplified, it is literally the Practitioner equivalent of plugging yourself into the mains!
The town also has mythical links to King Arthur (who’s resting place is said to be in the grounds of the Abbey) and the cup used at the last supper of Christ. I discovered the Red Spring of Avalon at Chalice Well a couple of years ago. The water from the spring and that of the White Spring at Glastonbury Tor are both considered to have healing and restorative properties. For me, cleansing and recharging my own energy periodically is a crucial element of offering the best Reiki to others that I can.
