Sitting here getting everything ready for this year’s Christmas Book Packages, hot chocolate beside me and the laptop full of holiday magic… when I pulled a book from a recent donation and had to pause.

Mr. Mugs – A Jet-Pet.

This wasn’t just any book—it was a childhood favourite. And in our neighborhood we had an Old English Sheepdog who, as far as I was concerned, was Mr. Mugs, so seeing this book again brought an extra wave of nostalgia.

Moments like this remind me why I love putting these packages together. A child will open their book bundle and feel that same spark of excitement for books. ❤️📚

Back to assembling I go… but I had to share this little trip down memory lane.

Hello! I’m the steward of the Whitby Children’s Little Free Library — our community’s free book-sharing box where everyone is welcome to take or leave books.
Every Christmas, we put together special Book Packages for families who need support during the holidays. Last year, we delivered over 250 books to 76 children, and this year we’re hoping to help even more families experience the joy of reading! ✨
If you or someone you know could use a little extra help this Christmas, we’d love to create a Christmas Book Package for them. These packages are intended specifically for families who need support.
