Social Media Community Guidelines & Rules of Engagement
For all BC Transit accounts the conversation and content is family-friendly. We encourage everyone to discuss and share openly with us, and we value the opinions and ideas that are put forward. However, to ensure that everyone feels comfortable to collaborate, and to uphold a positive environment, we expect that everyone follows our Rules of Engagement when interacting with BC Transit social media accounts. We ask that our community be courteous, honest and friendly towards us and one another. Please do not use this as a place to release your frustrations – we are here to help, and constructive conversation is the best way to achieve this. You can expect that your post will be removed if it:
- Violates the law – be it local, provincial, national or international. Your post will also be deleted if it encourages illegal activity in any way.
- Violations of the law include, but are not limited to, posting copyrighted materials, impersonation, harassment, or abusive behaviour.
- Contains offensive, hateful or indecent language of any kind, or makes unproven allegations against individuals or organizations. We are here to engage in respectful dialogue.
- Constitutes spam or marketing. Our page is a place to talk BC Transit – not to promote your business.
- Violates anyone’s personal privacy, or is misinforming.
- Is clearly way off-topic. We’re here to talk about public transit and BC Transit.
- Contains long embedded URLs or excessive links.
- Is in any way in violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
- While we hate to do it, we reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to suspend, and/or permanently block users that clearly neglect or violate these guidelines. Questions from the media will not be answered through social media channels, and should be directed to [email protected]

New handyDART technology is now available in Chilliwack and the Central Fraser Valley with additional BC Transit systems set to follow as the technology is rolled out across the province.
For thousands of people, handyDART is more than a trip. It’s a connection to the people, places and services that matter most. The new rider tools make it easier to book and manage trips, stay informed and travel with confidence through online booking, real-time vehicle tracking, trip reminders and caregiver support tools.

We share the story behind a bus wrap created in partnership with Songhees First Nation Elder Clarence “Butch” Dick (Yuxʼweyʼlupton). Rooted in Lək̓ʷəŋən stories, language and artistic traditions, the design honours Elders, ancestors and generations who have sustained cultural teachings and practices.
The Indigenous bus design is a moving expression of culture, identity, resilience, and community connection. Through storytelling and powerful imagery, it invites riders and community members to learn, reflect, and build understanding. As Elder Butch shared, art can be “a conduit to understanding,” creating opportunities for people from all backgrounds to connect through shared human experiences.
As the artwork travels through the Victoria community, it invites reflection, learning and understanding.
Every day we must think about how to connect, support and celebrate communities. As we near Day for Truth and Reconciliation, look for more stories, art, celebration and events to get involved.

Exciting news for handyDART riders in Chilliwack and the Central Fraser Valley! New ways to book, manage and track your trips are launching September 9.
• Online booking with 24/7 access
• A mobile app and web portal with real-time trip updates and bus tracking
• Track your bus in real time
• A simple way to view and manage upcoming trips
• Make changes to trips online or through the app without calling
• Tools that make it easier for families and caregivers to support riders by helping coordinate and manage trips
Riders can still phone in to book if they prefer. These new options are designed to complement existing service, giving riders more choice in how they book and manage trips. There are no changes to eligibility, service hours or service areas.

Victoria riders: Unifor Local 333 has advised BC Transit that it is implementing an overtime ban effective September 1. This may result in trip cancellations and delays on conventional transit service. Check customer alerts before you travel.
