New hurdle cleared! CIRQL Ferries moves forward on Vancouver’s Harbour Green dock as our downtown landing site, after successful motions passed this month by Vancouver Park Board and City Council.
Next up: contract negotiations with the City to finalize CIRQL Ferries’ access to the site.
It took a HUGE team effort (navigating through highs and lows!) to get here and we could not be more grateful to those who helped make this happen. Stay tuned for service to begin in 2028 ⛴️

From the Squamish Chief newspaper after our presentation to community leaders: "The municipality is excited about the possibility of a new mode of transportation in the area".
Greenline is excited too! As we speak, our team is doing the work to problem-solve about how this service would come together. A possible pilot project is in the works, so stay tuned.

Carbon offsets can help bring climate projects to reality. That's why Greenline works with Victoria-based Natureblocks on a formal accounting of our climate benefits, through which offsets can be generated and then offered for sale. Natureblocks Founder & CEO James Davidson breaks it all down in this Victoria Tech Journal profile. https://victechjournal.com/p/james-davidson-natureblocks-carbon-offsets

A lot of heavy lifting goes into launching a new ferry service, and yesterday's crane pick in Victoria is an important milestone along the way. Congrats to our compadres at Vancouver Island Ferry Company on a successful delivery, and a pair of handsome ships. Almost there!

It's ! Shout-out to all the glass sponges out there in Howe Sound. These animals have incredibly complex lattice-like skeletons that have remained the same for hundreds of millions of years. Once thought to be extinct, glass sponge reefs were rediscovered in coastal BC in the 80s, and Howe Sound is the only place to find them. Kudos to all who work to protect them:

Our recent op-ed: Car ferries have a significant emissions impact. To face our most urgent challenges, we need to bring our best tools to the job — with one important tool being passenger-only ferry service.
Opinion: BC's coastal ferries need passenger-only vessels, not just for cars | Urbanized Passenger-only ferries need to be introduced to British Columbia's coastal ferries network, including for the BC Ferries fleet.
