SSIFR Tender 301 is seeing the province this summer having helped out in Lillooet, Fintry, and now Merritt.

Thank you to our second crew, FF Josh Lindstrom, and FF Eric Corliss who both put family plans on hold to assist with the wildfire efforts.

Our 2026 recruits are officially over halfway through their year and still going strong!

They’ve been putting in the time, hard work, and dedication week after week as they continue building their skills and working toward becoming firefighters.

Keep up the great work, recruits — the finish line is getting closer! 🔥

Yesterday afternoon, Salt Spring Island Fire Rescue was requested to assist with the wildfires near Lillooet. Firefighters Holmes and Sturdy stepped up and deployed to support the response.

We weren’t able to grab a photo before they jumped on the ferry yesterday afternoon, so here’s one of them on their way north this morning!

We wish them a safe deployment and thank them for answering the call to help protect communities across British Columbia!

This past weekend, Salt Spring Island Fire Fighters Local 4467, the Salt Spring Island Fire Protection District, and the Salt Spring Firefighters Association were proud to sponsor five local Salt Spring Island youth to attend Island Ignite.

Island Ignite is an incredible program that introduces young women to careers in the fire service and emergency response through hands-on training, mentorship, teamwork, and confidence-building experiences.

Congratulations to Alex Weeks, Izzi Pugh Aucoin, Parker Proudfoot, Ruby Guilbeault, and Shaeanna Skye on representing our community. We hope you had an unforgettable weekend, gained new skills, and made memories that will last a lifetime.

A special thank you to everyone who helped make these sponsorships possible. We look forward to seeing where your journey takes you! Island Ignite Mentorship Society
