Cascade Dental Centre Maple Ridge

We have had a busy schedule of late but my little boy and I were still able to run in the Mini Sun Run again this year.
The weather was great and apart from the water station stops for my extra thirsty guy he ran just about the whole way without walking. Way to go Gin!

The life of Dr. Jim Findlay was recently celebrated as we all remembered and offered our final farewell to a man who touched the lives of so many people.
He was the founder of Cascade Dental and he will always be remembered for his passion and dedication for his patients. He will be truly missed but his legacy will continue on.

It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Dr. Jim Findlay passed away earlier this month.

Dr. Findlay will forever be remembered for how he faithfully cared for his community and patients. After graduating from UBC School of Dentistry, he began his career as a travelling dentist. He served communities throughout British Columbia, before opening his first dental practice in Port Alice. In 1979, Dr. Findlay found his home in Maple Ridge and shortly after founded Cascade Dental Centre. It gave him great joy to care for and connect with each of his patients over the last 45 years.

It was through Cascade Dental Centre that he made countless friendships, and met his late wife, Colleen and then in 2008, his wife Linda.

He will be remembered as a man who was unwavering in his Faith and gave greatly to his community through the Rotary Club, providing charitable dental work at home and abroad, serving as a church leader at St John the Divine, and championing the memory of his wife through the Colleen Findlay Foundation.

A public service will be held on February 27th at 1:00pm at Ridge Church in Maple Ridge for those wishing to pay their respects.

We are ending 2025 with a bang.
The office will be closed from December 24 until the new year.

Happy Halloween 🎃

It’s been a while for my boy to lose any baby teeth since the first two came out at the beginning of the year. But with his six year birthday just around the corner he was excited to learn about his first adult molar starting to peak through the gums at the back. He knows extra brushing will be needed after he gets his birthday cake🎂

My surgery went as planned and with the help of the nice staff and doctors at Burnaby hospital am recovering at home. My wound is sore but manageable with pain meds. My greatest strength though is from my boy who has been very caring and sensitive to my surgery. From opening the door for me and carrying my things to even offering me food off his plate to “give me energy” I am optimistic that I will be feeling much better by the weekend.

I will be getting my first ever surgery today. I have gotten some words of encouragement from people that have had similar surgeries so hopefully the one week have decided to take off work will enough. My biggest regret will be that I will be a boring playmate for my five year old boy. As I am supposed to “take it easy” for six weeks. Hopefully he will understand.

My little guy often asks me “how many broken teeth did you see today?” - his version of how my day was. It’s true my days usually have several “broken” teeth to fix but every once in a while I have the opportunity to give someone a smile that they can be proud of again. We both thought that was cool too😁

I ran in the BMO Vancouver half marathon over the weekend. Sunny and nice weather for the race and although I knew this wasn’t going to be a fast performance for me I was still happy with my result. I was especially proud of my little buddy waking up at 6am on a Sunday to help cheer me on.
