Delta First BC
A fresh, community-rooted choice for Deltans who believe there’s a better way to lead at City Hall.
To us, grassroots means neighbours talking to neighbours.
It means listening before speaking.
It means putting people ahead of politics.
It means community voices shaping decisions—not special interests, political insiders, or established power structures.
Real change doesn't start in boardrooms. It doesn't start in party headquarters. It starts on front porches, at coffee shops, on sports fields, in community halls, and in conversations between residents who care deeply about where they live.
That's what Delta First is all about.
We're people-forward.
We're community-focused.
We're committed to building change from the ground up, because the best ideas for Delta come from the people who call it home.
Grassroots isn't a slogan.
It's how we lead.
Please help us spread our word. Share, follow, like, attend our events...do whatever you can to get our word out.

Melissa Granum for Mayor is humble about her beginnings in the policing world, transparent about her misgivings ,and grateful to the people who have helped her grow throughout her career.
Do you have any questions for Melissa, Tammy Hansen for Delta Council, Jat Puri - Delta City Council Candidate or Alex Fischer for Delta Council? Drop them in the comments below, DM us or join us at one of our upcoming events or fundraisers.
We look forward to chatting with you.
I started my career at the Delta Police Department when I was 30 years old, with relatively little experience.
I was suddenly immersed in the complex world of policing and civilian oversight. The learning curve was steep and I tripped and stumbled often.
One person who made a lasting impact on me during those early years was Ray Carter. As a member of the Delta Police Board, Ray took the time to mentor me, share his knowledge, and help guide me through that challenging learning process. He did so with genuine kindness, patience, and care, qualities that have always defined him.
I was truly honoured to see Ray at our first fundraiser. Having his support and encouragement means a great deal to me.
Thank you Ray, for your mentorship, friendship, and the example you set for others. It’s something I’ve never forgotten and continue to carry with me.

You may have spotted our postcards at May Days, where we handed out the first batch of a project we're especially proud of.
Thoughtfully and professionally designed to capture the charm of classic postcards, featuring illustrated landmarks and familiar scenes from across Delta. Every image was carefully selected to reflect the communities that make Delta such a special place to call home.
Over the coming weeks, our team will be out door knocking throughout Delta and leaving these postcards at your door. In keeping with the postcard tradition, be sure to flip it over to find a handwritten note from a member of our team.
In a world of emails, texts, and social media, there's something meaningful about receiving a personal message. We hope these postcards serve as a reminder of the strong sense of community, connection, and neighbourliness that has always been part of Delta's story.
When yours arrives, we encourage you to put it on the fridge, share it with family, and keep it as a small reminder of the Delta we know and love.
Meet Libby.
Budget Analyst. Fiscal watchdog. Protector of taxpayer treats.
Libby believes every snack should be accounted for and every squirrel-related expense should be thoroughly investigated.
Her priorities include:
• Protecting taxpayer dollars
• Tracking snack inflation
• Auditing treat distribution
• Ensuring all neighbourhood pets receive fair and equitable belly rub allocations
When she's not reviewing the quarterly biscuit forecast, Libby can be found conducting surprise inspections of unattended picnic baskets, monitoring local squirrel activity or enjoying a good bike ride.
Her motto?
"If there's a treat missing, I will find it."
And frankly, that's exactly the kind of financial oversight Delta needs.

In Thursday's Delta Optimist, Greg Hoover's Letter to the Editor asked candidates running in the upcoming election to answer 10 important questions. Delta First's Council candidate, Tammy Hansen for Delta Council jumped on board to ensure that residents understand who she is and why she's running.
Tammy has called Delta home for 30 years. She built her career here, raised her family here, volunteer here, and like many of you, Tammy cares deeply about the future of our community.
Tammy is a Chartered Professional Accountant with more than two decades of experience helping individuals, small businesses, charities, and non-profits manage their finances responsibly. Every day, she works with people who are making important decisions with limited resources and looking for practical solutions.
Tammy is not a career politician.
What she brings to the table is financial literacy, accountability, and a commitment to listening.
For 30 years, Delta has helped shape who Tammy is and now she wants to help shape Delta's future.
As a member of the boards of Step Forward Health Society and the Rotary Club of Ladner, Tammy has seen firsthand the incredible work being done across our community. She's also seen the challenges many residents, organizations, and businesses face.
Council decisions affect all of us. Those decisions should be guided by sound financial stewardship, transparency, and a genuine understanding of the people who call Delta home.
If elected, Tammy will listen to residents, bring your concerns to the council table, and work hard to ensure your voice is heard.
I may not have all the answers, but I will always be prepared, accountable, and committed to making decisions that put Delta first.
