Last week, we were honoured to welcome The Hon Emma McBride MP McBride MP, Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Su***de Prevention, and Senator the Hon Senator Malarndirri McCarthy - Northern Territory, Minister for Indigenous Australians, to Lifeline Australia's Sydney office to meet with the 13YARN team.
We spoke about the growth of the service over the past 4 years of operation and the recent funding announcement to launch a 13YARN text service which will be a significant next step in closing the su***de gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
These are the conversations that matter. We are grateful to both Ministers for their time, their commitment, and their belief in what 13YARN is building.

Today marks four years of 13YARN delivering a culturally safe space for mob to reach out and yarn if they are feeling overwhelmed or having difficulty coping. In that time, the service has grown rapidly with calls continuing to increase reflecting how strongly the community has embraced the service as a trusted, judgment free place to yarn during tough times.
