Kyle Preparatory School

Our deputy headmistress, Ms Malenga, tells us of an inspirational Fontainian and close friend, Gillian Makura, who had a way of filling the world with love through giving. We were taught to look at how fortunate we are in all that we have, and how through giving, we can foster new friendships. We threw the gauntlet to the Grade 5 & 6s and launched the Kyle Prep Acts of Kindness Project. We all gave in a top, a bottom and a pair of shoes which we value enough to still use if they still fit to give away to our new friend. We had fun planning what we would discuss with our new friends from Bushmead Primary School, in the rural outskirts of Masvingo. On Thursday, 1st August, we went out there to spend a morning, sharing delicious picnic treats, singing and dancing together. Next year, we cannot wait to go back and catch up with our new friends, despite the dusty road.

Throwback to our infants sports day earlier in the term! The children really had a great time as they competed and did their best! Well done to them!

Highlights from our soccer fiesta held recently. The first of it's kind and we look forward to many more. We hosted 7 other schools Lomagundi College Primary School, Hillcrest Preparatory School, Murray Macdougall School, Fern Valley Primary, Helen Mcghee, Victoria Primary School and Hippo Valley Estates Primary School. The games were fun and some great skills were showcased. We are grateful to our partner for the Event Old Mutual Zimbabwe and we look forward to many more successful events with them. Thankyou to all the schools that participated. Congratulations to the winners for the day Hillcrest Preparatory School as they came out on top in the finals against Victoria Primary School.

A few highlights from our inaugural Golf tournament held a few weeks ago! It was a truly great day full of fun. A very big thankyou goes out to our Parents Assembly and all who helped to make the day a success. Congratulations to our boys who were selected as part of the SED soccer team! Strive Dzova, Jacobus Scott, Farai Chademana, Takunda Mafuna, Takunda Gwandongodza and Byron Nyakuenda. Our KP boys along with their team mates from other schools in the region departed this morning for the tournament being hosted by MCS in Gweru! We wish them all the best in their games this weekend!

This past weekend our Rugby and Hockey teams travelled to Petra in Bulawayo for the Petra festival! Our boys and girls gave it their all and had a great time!

On the 1st of June we hosted our annual Kyle Prep Winter Festival with 10 schools participating. These were
Hillcrest, Mvurachena, Wellton, Kyle, Petra, Goldridge, HVPS, Camelot, MCS and St Thomas. A big thankyou to all who played a part in making the day a great success!

Throwback to our Africa Day Celebrations! The children, parents and staff dressed up in the most colourful and fabulous outfits and the day was spent, learning about different African countries and their cultures and their cuisine. There were some fun and exciting performances done by each class as well as modeling and we even had the Kyle College marimba band treat us to a show. It was a wonderful and fun filled day! Thankyou so much to everyone for all the effort put into this day! !

A few weeks ago our infants department held a mother's day picnic 💝 Mum's took some time to come and spend with their little ones, to enjoy a picnic and other activities. It was a great day and everyone enjoyed themselves.

This past weekend our Colts rugby and Fillies hockey travelled to Hillcrest in Mutare and our 1st team rugby boys and hockey girls travelled to Whitestone in Bulawayo for their respective festivals! The boys and girls played well and put their all into their matches! We look forward to a busy term ahead! Go

The National Association of Primary Schools Heads (NAPH) Track and Field
Championships were held at our school this year. Mashonaland West were the champions with Midlands coming in 2nd and Masvingo 3rd! Well done to all the participants for their hard work and effort.

Our end of term Easter Character Dress Up day was a fun way for children to be reminded of the real reason we celebrate Easter! While the bunnies are fun and the eggs are yum, it's important to be reminded of the sacrifice made by Jesus on the cross for us and the resurrection! Our children and parents and staff really made an effort on the costumes and everyone looked great!

Some highlights from our grade 4 trip to Jabulani Safaris! The children had an amazing time learning all about the environment and wildlife as well as completing tasks and activities that encouraged teamwork and responsibility. Memories were made and important lessons were learnt.
