With Eswatini Microfinance industry starting to take shape, the central bank of Eswatini sent a delegate comprising of its staff and other major players in the sector to learn from best practice lenders in Zimbabwe. Thrive Microfinance was amongst one of their stop for an information exchange and they were escorted by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe staff.

Our client poverty likelihoods analysis reveals that the glitch from last quarter which showed exiting clients worse-off as compared to first time borrowers has corrected and we are relieved. We will continue to keep a close eye on these statistics as part of our efforts to ensure we do not do harm to clients.

Our poverty outreach as at 30 June 2019 stood at 69%, its highest point in the last 12 months. This is explained by our continued push into the rural areas or by the declining welfare in the market as the macro-economic worsens. Either way, our commitment to supporting economically active women remains strong.
