"You can’t teach creativity."
In some ways, this is true. Creativity isn't a one-size-fits-all lesson. It's personal, often shaped by experience, curiosity, and the freedom to explore. We've seen firsthand that creativity can be developed. Some of the animators we've taught didn’t seem “creative” at first.
What made the difference was helping them discover their individual strengths. Once they found their unique voice, their creativity started to shine.
So no, you can't teach creativity like a formula. But you can guide, encourage, and unlock it in ways that surprise even the learner.
Keep exploring. You might just surprise yourself.
Zimbabwe boasts a wealth of stories, all we need is someone to take initiative and share our stories with the world...which is what we have tasked ourselves with!
We're excited to announce a new project in the works, an animated series titled 'Mwene: An Empire', a show seeking to tell the true story of the rise and fall of the Muatapa Empire, with our own fictional flair, of course!
Meet our protagonist, Mwene, a young prince destined to bear the fate of a divided nation on his shoulders.

*GRAPHIC DESIGN*
*THE HARD TRUTH!*🎨
Tips for beginners, A Designers secrets to adding life to any design!
🔅Graphic design is telling a story.
🔅With this in mind, it's also safe to say that no design is bad.
🔅 In graphic design you can only fail to communicate your story clearly and loudly enough for it to be heard and understood by your specific audience.
🔅Graphic designing does not mean putting a bunch of information onto a poster for people to see, it's *transforming dull information and turning it into something that people can easily understand and find interesting enough to engage with.*
🔅So before adding a 'great looking picture' or 'a really nice star pattern', ask yourself, *'How well does this contribute to my story?'*
🔅Every element placed on a design should always be well thought out and intentional, always ask yourself WHY.
🔅You used the colour purple, why? you added images of children onto your poster, why? You placed your logo at the bottom, why?... Always answer that before commiting to a design decision.
🔅Don't use something because it just looks nice, but use it because it helps tell your story.
🔅Always remember that you aren't designing for yourself, but for other people to see, so just because it looks nice to you, it doesn't necessarily mean everyone else shares the same sentiment, so always get a second opinion, and be ready to hear the hard truth... Be open to constructive criticism.
🔅Be patient! This one is important. Sometimes it takes a while for the right idea to come up, and you find yourself stuck. Don't force it. Always avoid working under pressure and give yourself time to be creative. Test out new things, find inspiration elsewhere or take a break! That will always help!
🔅Lastly, always avoid trying too hard to make an idea work. You may find yourself tempted to swamp a design with lots of nice images and patterns and text... *DON'T*. Sometimes less *is* more! 1 image can sometimes be more than enough!
🔅Don't try too hard to show us that you can design... People want information, and it's your job as a designer to use your knowledge to present that information as well as possible, and make them feel a certain way as they read that information, that's how you influence engagement!
