Try this warming, wallet-friendly bowl for cold July nights.

Ingredients
• 4-6 Sable chicken necks or wing tips (or leftover bones/carcass)
• 1 onion, chopped
• 2 carrots, sliced
• 2 potatoes, cubed
• 1 cup chopped cabbage or any vegetable on hand
• 1 chicken stock cube
• 1 tsp mixed herbs
• Salt & pepper to taste
• 6 cups water

Method
1. Place Sable chicken necks/bones in a pot with water, stock cube and herbs. Simmer for 25-30 minutes to build a flavourful broth.
2. Add onion, carrots and potatoes. Simmer for 15 minutes until soft.
3. Stir in cabbage or remaining vegetables, season to taste and simmer for a final 5 minutes.
4. Serve hot with bread or sadza on the side.

One pot, minimal cost, maximum comfort.

• The salt draws out moisture, then the chicken reabsorbs it
• Results in deeply seasoned, juicy meat from the inside out

✅ GOOD: Salt 1 hour before cooking
• Gives the salt time to pe*****te the surface

⚠️ WORST: Salt right before or while cooking
• The moisture sits on the surface, making it harder to get a good sear
• Leads to steaming instead of browning
