Hi, I am Amanda Combrinck and I wanted to share why I have been dedicated to PLAY for over 13 years now.
I live in South Africa and I have 3 adult children and 2 grandsons. I am the President of the PLAY Board of Directors. My involvement with PLAY started before its’ inception in 2013, and at that time, it was in support of my friend, Lisa.
However, in the more than a decade of PLAY’s existence, the reasons for my involvement have changed. As we’ve kept contact with our past campers over the years, we’ve seen that their lives were permanently changed, because of PLAY camp. We take them to camp at a critical time in their development. What they are exposed to there is relevant to their lived experience, and it affects them deeply. A very large proportion of campers accept Christ as their Savior at camp, and are given the opportunity to be baptized.
Throughout the years, there have been so many testimonies from past campers that show us that they are: leaders in their communities and are serving in organizations that focus on service and the Gospel, they’re fighting for the underdog, they’ve exposed unethical and even criminal activity. Aren’t those good reasons to be part of PLAY??
Best of all, we know that a huge percentage of those who became Christians at camp continue to serve the Lord and will do so for all eternity.
