KEYSTONE PARK SAFETY DRIVE | ILLEGAL ROADSIDE STOPPING
Vehicles stopping illegally along the roadside creates congestion, reduces visibility and is a safety hazard for motorists and pedestrians.
Drivers are reminded to make use of designated parking and stopping areas only. Unsafe stopping can lead to accidents and traffic disruptions.
Let’s work together to keep our roads safe.

Building on a growing partnership in education
Hammarsdale-based Phezulu High School has once again benefited from the ongoing support of the African Scholar Fund, with the latest donation of 50 double-seater learner desks made possible through the support of HCRDA member PEP.
The donation follows previous support provided to the school, including an interactive whiteboard, projector, and laptops, all aimed at enhancing both teaching and learning while strengthening school administration.
Prior to this donation, overcrowding in some classrooms meant that as many as three to four learners were often required to share a desk designed for two learners. The addition of 50 double-seater desks will help alleviate this challenge, creating a more comfortable and conducive learning environment.
This continued investment reflects a shared commitment to equipping local schools with the resources needed to support quality education and improve learner outcomes.
We extend our appreciation to the African Scholar Fund and PEP for their ongoing support of Phezulu High School and their investment in local education.
HCRDA member Rainbow continues to invest in growing people through its Management Trainee Programme and Internship Programme.

Conservancies unite for Comrades Marathon clean-up
This past week, the eThekwini Municipality Parks Department carried out a major Alien Invasive Plant Blitz along the R103, stretching from the Rob Roy Retirement Complex to the Kwa-Ximba turnoff (Eddie Hagen Drive).
Teams from across the city worked together to cut, poison, and remove thousands of invasive alien plants, with a strong focus on Bugweed and Lantana. This important initiative forms part of the municipality’s broader environmental management efforts, including preparations for the upcoming Comrades Marathon on 14 June.
In a strong display of environmental collaboration, volunteers from several local conservancies, including local KwaXimba Conservancy alongside other community conservation groups, joined forces with the Parks Department to support the blitz, reinforcing the shared commitment to protecting and restoring natural ecosystems.
Together, these efforts continue to strengthen conservation work and safeguard our green spaces for future generations.
