Shiphrah is a Cybersecurity and Responsible AI leader focused on building secure, ethical and inclusive digital ecosystems across Africa. She serves as President of the Kenya Chapter at the Global Council for Responsible AI, leads WomenTech Kenya, and is the Founding Executive Director of Founder Haus Africa.

From building digital skills to building businesses, Carolyne Ekyarisiima has spent her career proving what becomes possible when women are given access to technology and the confidence to use it.

Through her work across Uganda and Tanzania, she has helped thousands of girls and young women gain access to IT, robotics, entrepreneurship and future-ready digital skills.

Africa is building — and women are leading the way.

We’re proud to announce a new partnership with the Sasol Foundation to deliver the 2026 Sasol Girls Coding, Robotics and Hackathon Programme.

This programme will reach 240 schoolgirls from 8 schools across five regions, introducing them to coding, AI, robotics, problem-solving and STEM career pathways.

We believe young girls should not have to wait until university to discover that they can build technology.

They should have opportunities now to experiment, solve problems, work in teams, present their ideas and begin imagining themselves as engineers, developers, innovators and founders.

Technical skills can open the door. Work readiness helps you walk through it with confidence.

We recently welcomed Dirkie Human from RS South Africa Africa to the GirlCode offices for a practical work readiness workshop with our GirlCoders, focused on helping them prepare for the realities of entering the workplace.

The session gave participants an opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals, ask questions, understand what employers look for, and build the confidence to navigate the transition from learning into work.

Because preparing women for careers in technology is not only about teaching them how to code. It is also about helping them communicate their value, understand workplace expectations, build professional confidence and make the most of the opportunities available to them.

Ghana is bringing ecosystem energy to the Pan-African judging table.

We’re excited to welcome Akosua Annobil, creator of Tech in Ghana and founder of AB2020, as our Pan-African Judge representing Ghana.

Akosua has spent years doing something every founder eventually learns matters just as much as building the product: connecting the right people, ideas, capital and opportunities.

Through Tech in Ghana, she has built a bridge between Ghana’s technology ecosystem and the global stage, bringing together founders, investors, policymakers and industry leaders to create the kinds of conversations and partnerships that move ecosystems forward.
