CALVINIA, NORTHERN CAPE – A female teenager has been convicted and sentenced to seven years’ direct imprisonment for the r**e of another teenage girl. 🚔

The case was handled by the Calvinia Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. 🛡️

On 13 September 2024, the 16-year-old complainant went to a local tavern with friends, where she met her former girlfriend (then 15 years old).

Later that evening the accused accompanied the victim to her residence. There, the accused allegedly forcibly penetrated the victim with the handle of an Okapi knife without consent. 😔

The victim immediately reported the incident to the accused’s parents and to the police. She received medical treatment, while the accused was arrested and later released into the care of her parents. 🏥

The trial concluded on 20 August 2026 in the Calvinia Regional Court. The accused was found guilty of r**e under the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act and sentenced to seven years’ direct imprisonment. ⚖️🔒
