At Dutchies, our Indonesian Rijsttafel evenings honour the handwritten recipes of Carolien Gonggrijp, Joké’s beloved mother-in-law. Born in Indonesia in 1924, Carolien learned the art of Indonesian cooking from her family’s kokkie, filling her cookbook with personal notes along the way. She leaves a legacy we're honoured to share around our tables ✨

Join us every Thursday until the end of November for a feast of Nasi Goreng, Satay, Gado-Gado, Rendang, Ayam Goreng, Nasi Padang, Ikan Bakar and Sop Buntut. Bring your loved ones and share an evening of treasured family flavours 🇮🇩

A treasure in our kitchen 📖

This handwritten cookbook belongs to Jokés beloved mother-in-law, Carolien Gonggrijp. Born in Indonesia in 1924, she lived there until 1946 and learned true Indonesian cooking from the family's kokkie. Every page is full of her own notes.

Carolien recently passed away at the age of 101, almost 102. We feel truly honoured to carry her recipes forward at our Indonesian Rijsttafel evenings every Thursday from now until the end of November ✨
