Dennilton Educational Movement (DEM) is proud to announce the successful completion of the Literacy Training Programme conducted in partnership with Inali Bali. This training marks an important milestone in our collective efforts to strengthen literacy development and improve educational outcomes within our communities.

As an organization committed to educational excellence, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Inali Bali for partnering with us in delivering this impactful programme. We wish to convey special recognition to Lebogang Duster, whose dedication, professionalism, and expertise as the facilitator contributed significantly to the success of the training. The knowledge, skills, and encouragement provided throughout the programme have left a lasting impact on all participants.

We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Mr E. B. Vilakazi, the Circuit Manager, for granting approval and support for teachers to participate in this valuable initiative. His commitment to educational development continues to create opportunities that empower educators and strengthen the quality of teaching and learning in our schools.

Our appreciation further extends to every teacher and participant who dedicated their time and effort to successfully complete the training. Your enthusiasm and commitment demonstrate a shared vision of improving literacy and creating brighter futures for our learners.

We firmly believe that the skills, knowledge, and strategies acquired through this programme will positively influence classroom practice and contribute meaningfully to learner achievement across our schools. By strengthening the capacity of educators, we are investing directly in the future success of our children and communities.

As part of our commitment to promoting a culture of reading, we are pleased to announce that each participating school will receive 200 reading books from the Dennilton Educational Movement. We trust that these resources will support literacy development, encourage reading for enjoyment, and help learners cultivate lifelong learning habits.

In recognition of their dedication and successful completion of the programme, all participants received certificates of completion, acknowledging their commitment to professional growth and literacy advancement.

Looking ahead, DEM is excited about the opportunity to build and strengthen its relationship with Inali Bali. We are hopeful that this partnership will continue to expand and create sustainable literacy interventions that benefit schools, educators, and learners. Our immediate focus is to support literacy improvement within Moutse Central Circuit and Moutse East Circuit, while exploring opportunities to extend our impact to additional communities in the future.

Together, through collaboration, commitment, and investment in education, we can transform literacy outcomes and empower the next generation with the skills they need to succeed.

Dennilton Educational Movement is pleased to announce that today, a DEM delegation led by Mr. Ntokozo Zengele, the Operations Director of the organization, held a productive meeting with Mrs. Prudence Erens, National Coordinator of Nal’ibali, to discuss the logistical preparations for the upcoming literacy training programme that will be jointly implemented by DEM and Nal’ibali.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and finalizing plans for a training initiative aimed at empowering teachers, reading club leaders, and community literacy facilitators with effective strategies to improve reading comprehension among learners. The programme seeks to equip educators with practical skills to help learners not only read words, but also understand, interpret, and engage meaningfully with what they are reading.

Through this partnership, the organization aims to inspire young learners to develop a lifelong love for reading, improve literacy levels, and strengthen academic performance in schools.

Today, as South Africans commemorate Freedom Day, we reflect on the historic sacrifices that secured our democracy and the fundamental rights we enjoy today. Freedom Day is not only a celebration of political freedom, but also a reminder that true freedom must include access to quality education, economic opportunity, and equal chances for all learners.

Dennilton Educational Movement (DEM) recognizes education as the most powerful tool for sustaining and deepening freedom. Without education, freedom remains incomplete. Education equips young people with knowledge, skills, and confidence to participate meaningfully in society, to make informed decisions, and to contribute to the economic development of their communities.

As DEM, our role in advancing freedom through education remains clear and unwavering. We continue to advocate for the protection of Mathematics and Science education, promote learner support programmes, encourage community involvement in schools, and hold institutions accountable to ensure that every learner has access to subjects that open doors to careers and economic participation. We believe that when learners are denied access to key subjects such as Mathematics, their future opportunities are limited, and the promise of freedom is weakened.

Freedom must also be understood in the context of economic freedom. Political freedom alone cannot close the gap between poverty and opportunity. Economic freedom is achieved when young people are empowered with relevant skills, when schools are properly resourced, and when communities actively support education. The gap between those who have access to quality education and those who do not continues to widen, and it is our collective responsibility to close this gap.

DEM calls upon government, educators, parents, communities, and learners to work together to strengthen education as a pillar of freedom. Government must continue to invest in teacher development, infrastructure, and learning resources. Schools must remain committed to excellence and accountability. Parents and communities must actively support learners and encourage a culture of learning at home. Learners themselves must embrace discipline, resilience, and dedication to their studies.

Closing educational and economic gaps requires unity of purpose. We must ensure that no learner is left behind because of their background, location, or financial circumstances. Freedom becomes meaningful when it translates into opportunities for growth, employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

On this Freedom Day, Dennilton Educational Movement reaffirms its commitment to advancing educational equality, defending the right of every learner to access quality education, and building pathways toward economic empowerment. Together, through education, we can transform freedom into lasting progress for future generations.

Happy Freedom Day, South Africa.
Education is Freedom. Knowledge is Power. Unity is Progress.

Today, Dennilton Educational Movement held a constructive engagement meeting with the Department of Basic Education to discuss the current status of Mathematics education in South Africa. The meeting lasted approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, during which a wide range of issues affecting the teaching and learning of Mathematics were thoroughly discussed.

During the engagement, the Department demonstrated that several programmes aimed at improving Mathematics performance are already in place, supported by relevant policies and strategic frameworks. The Department further emphasized the importance of safeguarding Mathematics as a subject in schools and pleaded with the organization to report any school that intends to remove or discontinue Mathematics. In this regard, the Department referred the organization to Circular S13 of 2025, which provides guidance on matters relating to the offering of Mathematics in schools.

Both parties agreed that the major challenge does not lie in the absence of programmes or policies, but rather in the effective implementation of these existing initiatives at school level. As a result, Dennilton Educational Movement commits to working diligently to develop practical and sustainable implementation strategies that will strengthen Mathematics teaching and learning in our communities.

The organization appreciates the openness of the Department of Basic Education and looks forward to continued collaboration aimed at improving Mathematics outcomes for learners across South Africa.
