A lot of love going into the garden at the moment 🍃 Weekends revolve around what to plant next; helping hands moving soil and earth, and finding inspiration in everything ~ wherever you move, there’s always something to notice.

Coupla local icons ✨🦅⭐️ ~ concept illustrations in the works for ✍🏽

Been so much fun working on these ideas with over the last little while, and seeing sketches go into a whole new process 🐾 Its the first time I’ve properly tapped into digital illustration and had such a time learning along the way! ~ I sketched out basic line drawings of each animal/plant, with minimal detail, then scanned & took them into Illustrator to add further detail and colour 🎨

Can’t wait to see some of these as embroidered patches!! 🤩 (and theres actually a little sneak peak if you scroll to the end there 😌👉🏽)

A little while ago, I was invited to spend some time creating illustrations on the grounds at BKloof in the Cederberg 🏜️ It was a dream to create some art there — having been placed in such a vast, beautiful landscape (one of my favourites) — and then with the task of pulling together all that I experienced into this illustrated map-layout, which will feature in each room at the lodge ⭐️

The original watercolour paintings, and a larger map print will also be on exhibit as a part of their permanent collection, if ever you’re visiting — be sure to take a look in person 🌞

Feeling quite proud of this project! Always in awe of where my lil art practice leads me, and the people I get to meet along the way 🌾

Eye of the Southern Right Whale 🌀

A single eye opens— and in it, the starts to earth reveals itself. Mountain ridges are etched into the iris, cloud systems drift across the cornea, and oceans shimmer in its depths. Light fractures across the surface like mineral veins beneath the surface of the planet 🫧

Here, storm meets stillness.
It does not blink. It remembers.

~ Mountain in the Sea ~ Hoerikwaggo ~
✨🌄✨

This painting found its roots in a faded photograph of Table Mountain, that I found years ago while searching for discarded images in antique stores. An image that has lived with me through many home-spaces and work stations.
And now that it’s almost entirely faded, I realise what it means to me 🌹 It became more than just an object — it has been a quiet companion, reminding me of this lands golden past, before the we altered her.

Sometimes when we slow down enough to truly see it: softened by haze, cloaked in memory, and suspended in time. There is a softness that slips in when the light is low, and the city feels like a dream 🌠

Through painting this one, I hope bring back its warmth — to let the mountain appear as she sometimes does: distant, gentle, full of grace, and still holding something sacred 🐚
