Over the past 9 years the IDP has directly improved the lives of more than 400 Imams across 9 countries in Southern Africa.
Empowering Imams to Preserve the Deen
We provide education, resources, and leadership training to Imams across Africa, helping them serve their communities better. 🌍
Currently empowering 592 Imams in 14 African countries. Namely, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Tanzania. Through our training, we have enhanced the effectiveness of our imams to better serve their communities. And through our imams we can touch the lives of over 2 million people each year. This includes weekly jumuahs, thousands of children learning to recite Quran, combating gang violence and drug addiction, spreading dawa to non- muslims to mention but a few of an imam community engagements
We invite you to participate in this great initiative and help us, help our imams change the world for the better. This is a project under Mercy Mission World with partners including IPCI, IDM, Deenclass, Council of African Scholars, AlKauthar Institute and WAMY.

This October, over 100 Imams will come together in South Africa for the Imam Development Program’s International Imam Leadership Summit.
Under the theme “From Madinah to Africa,” we draw inspiration from the Prophet’s ﷺ example of leadership and service, reflecting on how we can better guide, support and care for our communities.
Every Imam attending serves people who look to him for guidance. This gathering is about what he can take back to them.

Have a Blessed Jummu'ah
Imam Ismail from Zambia reflects on one of the most beautiful parts of his first Umrah journey: the brotherhood he experienced along the way.
From Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, South Africa and beyond, everyone came together with love, respect and unity. Different countries, different backgrounds, yet everyone felt like a brother.
A reminder that Islam brings hearts together, wherever we come from.

Our CEO, Shaykh met the President of Gambia!
After Jumu'ah at the State Mosque, Shaykh Bilal was welcomed by the President of Gambia. The President spoke about how much Imams give to their communities and how much more support they deserve. Hearing that straight from the country's leader means a lot for the work IDP is doing across Africa.
Shaykh Bilal also sat with the Islamic Supreme Council to introduce IDP and learn what Imams in Gambia need most. He delivered a talk at the International Open University. And he spent several days meeting Imams face to face.
By the end of the trip, 156 Imams had been interviewed.
Alhamdulillah for a visit that opened doors and brought us closer to the Imams we serve
