The production of Spaza's functional hand-made products creates home-based employment for South African women.

Ironer Berenice has been with us since the early days of our Fair Trade workshop in Mitchells Plain. āI like working with people,ā she says, describing a team that feels like family. What began with two women sewing from Anne-Marieās living room has grown into a thriving workshop employing 12 women from the local community.

Inspired by the beauty of the Cape Floral Kingdom
The Cape Floral Kingdom is the smallest yet richest of the worldās six floral kingdoms, spanning roughly 90,000 kmĀ² across South Africaās Western and Eastern Capes. It contains over 9,000 plant species!
Our individually hand carved stamps are inspired by the beauty that surrounds us in Cape Town.

On a recent visit, founder Julia Schaffer sat down with Anne-Marie. After years working in South Africaās fashion industry, Julia saw how much time women were spending travelling to and from work, leaving little time for their families. Together, they built a different model: creating dignified, fairly paid work within the local community.
