We have changed our name to Network Connect because our role is to help Activators
connect through different campaigns, projects and initiatives we partner with them on. We

It's make your Mark Monday!!!
Our Civic education efforts are not shaped by the election or government of the day, but by the continuous needs we find and live through in our communities.
This year, our Civic Education Champions have been conducting community workshops.
Here are some of their reflections on the work being done.

Disability is not inability, yet barriers persist. 71% of people with disabilities in South Africa are unemployed. Some are denied opportunities not because of skill, but because of stigma.
A! Diversity breaks those walls, with podcasts, webinars, and dialogues coming to make space for youth with disabilities to lead, not just participate.
When we centre the most excluded, we build a stronger democracy.

A! Civic Champions are on the ground and have been running civic education workshops in their communities across the country, to equip young people with knowledge about their civic rights, the democratic process, and their role as the youth in shaping their communities.
In these workshops, civic champions are having thought provoking conversations that are aimed at encouraging the youth to actively participate in civic matters, including voting, community service, and advocacy for social change.
Civic Champions are also in a mission to connect young people with relevant community stakeholders such as councilors, local government representatives and in most cases, we have the IEC in the workshop space, educating participants on the voting processes, and providing guidance for unregistered youth voters on the registration process, emphasizing the impact of their vote!

We are talking to first time voters about their role as young people and why it is important for them to be Active citizens ahead of local government elections.
IEC is also in the room, reminding young people that voter registration is ongoing and can register at any time at register to vote.elections.org.za
