Dihlabeng Local Municipality acted promptly today and pounced on tuckshop in Bohlokong allegedly selling expired food and operating illegally.

A compliance task team inspected the premises and immediately closed the business. Inspectors found expired food products on the shelves and identified poor hygiene and unsanitary conditions that posed a risk to public health.

The business was found to be non-compliant with municipal by-laws and public health regulations. It will remain closed until all violations have been addressed and verified by the relevant authorities.

Dihlabeng Local Municipality remains committed to ongoing compliance operations across all wards and encourages residents to report illegal trading and health-related violations.

The Dihlabeng Local Municipality’s Development and Town Planning Directorate, in collaboration with the Bethlehem SPCA and the National Lottery, successfully provided free inoculation, deworming, and dipping services for dogs and cats at Boiketlong Hall.

The initiative was aimed at protecting pets against life-threatening diseases, eliminating harmful internal and external parasites, and helping to prevent the spread of diseases between animals and humans within households. Programmes such as these play an important role in promoting animal health, responsible pet ownership, and healthier communities.

Pet owners were encouraged to take advantage of the free service before the programme concluded at 16:00. The campaign forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to improve animal welfare and support the well-being of both pets and residents across Dihlabeng.
