DIHLABENG INTENSIFIES ROAD MAINTENANCE WITH STREET PATCHING IN BETHLEHEM C*D

Dihlabeng Local Municipality has commenced with street patching operations in the Bethlehem Central Business District (C*D), focusing on the intersection of Malan and Louw Street.

The intervention forms part of the Municipality's ongoing road maintenance programme aimed at improving road conditions, ensuring road safety and enhancing mobility for both motorists and pedestrians.

The patching work addresses potholes and surface deterioration that have impacted traffic flow and road safety within the C*D.

MAYORAL INTEGRATED SERVICE DELIVERY PROGRAMME ROLLS OUT IN MASHAENG

Dihlabeng Local Municipality today intensified its community outreach efforts as the Executive Mayor, Cllr Tseki Tseki, led a comprehensive Mayoral Integrated Service Delivery Programme in Mashaeng , Fouriesburg.

The initiative forms part of the Municipality's commitment to bring services closer to the people, address service delivery challenges and provide direct feedback on key developmental projects within the area.

The Executive Mayor was accompanied by Municipal Manager Mr. Ntheli, together with Directors and Managers from various municipal departments.

Residents were afforded an opportunity to access a wide range of municipal services on-site, including Human Settlements, Indigent Registration , Agricultural Section SMME Section and Sports and Recreation.

A major highlight of the day was the official launch of newly completed recreational facilities, including an outdoor gymnasium , children's play area, indigenous lawn, and multi-purpose court for netball, basketball and volleyball. The Executive Mayor appealed to the community to safeguard and maintain the facilities to ensure their sustainability and long-term use.

In addition, members of the community received their Deeds of Sale, marking a significant milestone in securing tenure and formalising property ownership for beneficiaries.

On human settlements, the Executive Mayor provided a progress update on the Masheheng housing sites project, which has now reached approximately 80% completion. He clarified that outstanding bulk services, including water reticulation, roads, waste management and electricity, must still be finalised before beneficiaries can occupy their allocated sites. The remaining phase of the project is scheduled to commence in October 2026 and will run for a period of 16 months.

In his remarks, Municipal Manager Mr. Ntheli expressed concern over the ongoing vandalism of municipal infrastructure. He cautioned residents against the deliberate destruction of newly drilled boreholes and the disposal of foreign objects into sewer manholes, which results in blockages and disruption of water and sanitation services.
